mrsdnf 2015 BLF comp build updated post 5, 20.9.15 The light is now finished.

Thanks again guys.

@RBD. With last years comp build light using C8 reflectors opened my mind to the fact that multi reflector lights will give a totally different light pattern in respect to the corona and spill being far greater than that same reflector used singularly. Because of this I was confident that the small reflectors with the XPE-2 leds would behave the same way which it has. Instead of a tiny hotspot and bugger all corona and spill as in the single reflector light this light has quite a large corona and more than a usable amount of spill along with the same amount of throw as a decent C8 and has a lot a lot larger hot spot to boot.

I may still change the driver to RMM's and forgo a slight decrease in output for a far better range of light output between modes. As it is med and high are just to close to the same light output in use.

@ vestureofblood. That little post in the middle is only around 3mm in size. I was a little apprehensive machining the last two reflector holes (machined diagonally) as I thought it would snap off. I machined each hole in about a third depth each side rotating the work piece as each cut was taken. No tears had to be shed.

The fins are 2mm in width. I bought a cheap Carbide parting of tool awhile ago. lt is a lot nicer to use than my Hi Speed steel parting of tool though the senses are still at a high level while doing these things.

@ Dale. I went looking for the PM we had at the time that I thought the details were in but as usual I could not find it. The light with your driver in it is a real winner as the beam shots show. I am pondering using the quad parts you gave me to build the giveaway light. Thanks again.

Really like the proportions of this light, along with the knurled bezel, and milled slots. A lot of useful light coming out as well. Very well done sir!

MRsDNF finished something?

Well, slap my *** and call me opossum city.

Now, now, isn’t that a bit of the zombie calling the vampire dead?

Well maybe. The driver may get the khyber.

Could I have a Milla Jovovich picture in my thread? Pretty please.

Wonderful work. The final product looks and performs like better than many top end torches. Really really nice.

Super Duper Nice Build!!!! That was a lot of work to say the least. You can see all the effort put forth in this light. I'll PM you my address so you can just send it on to Texas.

Beautiful! TL

Join the welcome wagon, she always puts in an appearance there.

Very nice.

Wait just a darn tootin minute there! TL, he’s sending that beaut to the Heart of Texas, MRsDNF builds some heavy lights, don’t ya know? We wouldn’t you straining yourself with it and not be able to get your boots off…

Don’t you worry, we can handle it down here in the Heartland. Thanks Steve, appreciate all the work you did on my light for me. Get that driver issue all sorted out and go ahead and put her on the plane…

Love that beam profile, seriously honkin output, covers all the bases, excellent!

Sorry to disappoint you there short stroke... but that light was made to fit ME. I'll tell Daniel... he will make sure it gets to me!! Ha!

Send it right on up here Steve!!! TL

Hah, you’re much too late off the mark guys.

No prob. ;)

You're going to love it here, MRsDNF!

The current driver is going south and RMM's driver is being given the mantle. I believe RMM's drivers name is James. I just hope he fits in and doesn't cause any trouble.

Thanks rc I felt all tingly for half a second and then felt something warm pouring from my neck. Is that Ninja Milla?

TL, I'm not sure I want to know why Dale is named short stroke and something was made to fit you. It all sounds a bit kinky to me. Maybe thirty or so years ago. The duck is looking good, on my dinner plate.

no, No, No, ... it doesn't even get dark where the duck lives!! TL

Rufus, This light is meant for TEXAS!!! ... AMARILLO TEXAS!!! TL

You’re probably right. Were in the thick of fire season here and it would most likely get confiscated.

Most people seem to connect CA with earthquakes but fire is the big destroyer here, more than 1200 homes and buildings in just two of the major ones this year. One got started july 31 and is still going. Yeah, some places are bright even at night. Please think of those people in your prayers.

Better do a background check on James, he might have ties to Jacks cohorts.

As long as it's James, & not Jakob, you should be OK.

Awesome build Steve !
