Group Buy Interest Thread *DEAD* for SupFire Y11 *Got it! Pics in OP*

9-30-15 The Baseball bat light arrived today! I’ll let the pics tell the story …

A few points of interest… the battery on top touches a contact plate that has a single long positive lead down to the driver contact plate at the base of the “barrel”. Each of these spring bearing pcb has a brass retaining ring, the driver appears to be 22mm (my digital caliper I keep in the house was awol) From the driver, 2 22ga silicone wires go the length of the barrel to the pill out at the end of the bat. This is the aluminum pill pictured above, nice reflector, a plastic cover piece for zero chance of a short, all in all everything is perfectly fitted. The ano is gorgeous! The threads are coarse, large threads that make good contact if a bit loose like all standard threads, nothing special just some good heavy duty contact. It’s heavy! The barrel is 7/16” thick walls where the wires are running through! The bezel is 1/8” thick aluminum, the lens is also 1/8” thick and beveled on both sides… good ol plain glass. XM-L2 1A emitter, nice beam profile, if a bit under powered and with the ole standard 5 mode strobe sos thing. And it won’t do the 1100 lumens they said, I got 690 out the front on the brightly colored but no named 2200mAh cells they provided with it in the kit format. (low discharge rate cells) I saw 0.95A at the tail with these, fresh off the charger.

So the driver could use some tweaking, but really for what it’s designed for it’s just about right. The strobe and sos modes could be very helpful for a car light, but the danged next mode memory kills me.

Well built, solid as all get out, excellent fit and finish but a bit weak. All in all, I’m impressed!

Hiya hiya!
I recently found out about the new SupFire Baseball Torch… it’s a mini baseball bat style light made out of bar stock material, heavy enough to bonk things and stay in good shape and well made, it’s a 20” long 2lb light in 3 color choices, Black, Rose, Blue anodized aluminum with a Cree XM-L2 at an advertised 1100 lumens. This is one of the few lights where the old Strobe and SOS modes would be well left intact, a great car light/club to carry for emergencies of all kinds. It has 2 18650’s in the handle of the bat, I have one screen shot of the light and will be getting more pics from SupFire to show.

The deal is, at 100 pcs they’ll sell them to us for $20 each. BUT, as is typical for SupFire there is a shipping charge of $11 and a PayPal Fee they want us to pay. So a total shipped price would be $32.

Have a look, give me some feedback and let’s see if this is a viable group buy for the forum.

Oh, I’m paying $58 to get one DHL’d to me, should have it in a week or less. (no review light here, this one’s costing me! But it’s a kit, with their branded cells and a charger. )

I’ll try and get some pics from them, and will have my own pics in a few days.

Thanks for looking, and for your participation should you be interested in a “tire thumper” flashlight.

Dale

Here’s a pic they sent me of the light in it’s box. Blue anodized, looks awesome!

You can see the place for charger and cells in the box for the higher priced kit. I can find out what a total price would be on the kit version if that’s the way y’all would like to go, and I’ll also ask if it can be mixed or one/other.

The Groupbuy would be for just the Batlight (No cells/charger?). Edit: saw the bottom of post

I’m interested. Looking forward to seeing your thoughts on it.

I hope your guarding this GB interest thread with a baseball bat, or should that be a baseball light from the poachers here.

This light is probably not for me but interested in your thoughts of the light when you receive it which may sway me.

LOL, I saw that light on the Supfire site the other day and was wondering who would buy such a light, now I know  . As with Steve, this is not my light but I'm really looking forward to your findings. :-)

This reminds me of one of the best reviews ever posted on BLF: foy's review of the Solarforce Gladiator

(talking about Supfire, I bought the new Supfire F5, a 18650 version of the F3, will report..)

I definitely want to hear what you find but the Supfires are usually decent. I would be curious to know what you can do with them.

Two pieces for certain, most likely 4 or 5. (Tis the season)

They look like great riding buddies and even less likely to get lost in the car ;)

I’m interested in one in rose color! Looks more maroon to me though.

So after blinding someone with this light i can beat em up with it too?
Cool J)

Interested in blue colour.
Most probably will stay inside the car, under the seat :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m in for a rose

i’ll take the black

I’ll take the black

Interested, pending review on solid specs and good build quality.

would multiple units have the same $11 shipping charge? Might be an opportunity to stock up for all the cars / rooms, etc.

That’s just asking for (legal) trouble in some of the more “sensitive” areas of the world, including parts of the United States. Carry it out and about and you’ll probably be stopped for carrying a “weapon.”

The way it is build, as can be seen on the Supfire website, it certainly is a weapon, and I expect Dale to perform some thorough wacking tests with it (on non-living objects of course).

I certainly have no aversion to weapons of any kind, but I’m just pointing out the realities of this modern world. For many, this light will be a “safe queen” that cannot be carried / used outside the home.

What’s the legality of this being carried in the Netherlands? In many parts of California, you’d be stopped, quite possibly in a very unpleasant way, if seen carrying it.

You would never want to keep this with the idea that it could be used for self defense. Being shaped like a weapon can cause you to be framed as the aggressor. Even in a self defense situation. Why did you have a weapon? Where you looking for trouble? And heaven help you, if they die from a blow to the head.

This just makes it a big liability for you. And imho that makes this light worse than pointless. If you want a good flashlight for self defense get a long length flashlight with a normal shape, not shaped like a bat.

Thank goodness for Oklahoma and Texas, open carry FTW.
I’ve never understood the mindset that because I prepare for violence, I’m the bad guy.

“No, officer, I’m carrying a weapon because you cannot be everywhere at every time. Furthermore, I assert my 5th amendment rights from this point out.”

edit - I am not suggesting anyone ignore local realities, probably not a good idea.

Cause the bad guys prepare for violence all the time. Most innocent people don’t (unless they live in a bad neighborhood). When someone is forced to protect themselves with whatever they have on hand (like a nice solid maglite in days past) it does help indicate it was self defense.

Back when I was in the States, I carried a firearm quite often, with one purpose only - stopping someone who seriously threatened me or others.

Maybe baseball bats are treated differently, but if someone pulled a knife on me while I was carrying a firearm and I shot them, no one would accuse me of looking for trouble.

I’d be interested in one. I’d have to modify it with a direct driven MT-G2 that way I can blind the person, then beat them with the bat, and burn them at the same time!

As to the self defense thing, I would keep this in the house for the kids to use if they couldn’t get to a firearm first. My kids are both trained in the proper use of firearms and frequently practice self defense shooting with both rifles and pistols. I personally would never need it for self defense, as I carry a pistol 100% of the time that I am in public thanks to my enhanced carry Mississippi license.
