3rd annual BLF Contest- Machine made triple nichia ( flashlight is FINISHED ) beamshot added

hi, the retainer is milled from separate piece because it has to have more material than walls of the body because it has to hold the glass, here are pics

i don’t know why the picturesare not always visible :frowning:

what a beautiful light

Simply orsm. Unique and built on a home made nc machine to boot.

Pictures are all working now for me as well.

I get it now, looks great. Amazing you two have done machining those small reflectors.

Absolutely amazing craftsmanship!

the real challenge in this project was the combination of 3 reflectors and triple noctigon: it was harder to make this combination to work without short circuiting than the machining of the entire flashlight body… the 4 jumpers that are soldered in order to make the noctigon to be parallel current are simply too thick and the position of the soldering points of + and - cables are very close to LED’s…i solved the jumpers by simply milling them to reduce the height but the cables position was much harder resolve…pics are coming up…

Super nice clean build. Stunning Work!!! TL

Wow, I would’ve had to sand those down or clip sheet jumpers and they’re very small. More tool envy.

I’m in awe.

Some of the other builds in the contest are more elaborate, but I think this is the one i would most like to have myself. I love the shape of the head especially.

Great work.

I really love the shape of that head!! So clean looking too. Going with reflectors vs optics was an awesome move too. I could carry that on a short ( less that 5 mile ) hike in a heart beet.

Is there a lens in that?

I miss too much when I don't ever come around any more. This is absolutely wonderful! I really love the way you did the head and reflectors. Just great!

it feels good to hear the nice words

yup, there is a lens…and seals at both ends…pictures are coming…

Nice, very nice!

Awesome, great work!

And you used nichias, nice!

lens…this is trial version cut from plastic BUT…i have some diamond grinding wheels…i have AR coated 31.5mm diameter glass AND…i have a plan… J)

That lens looks good. I think your idea of cutting down the 31mm AR lens will work to. I have been cutting a little glass myself lately and it seems to work just fine.

Thanks again for sharing.

…last time we see this flashlight in silver…prepared for anodizing…hopefully it will be olive green… :Sp
