Lowes Deal Alerts & Discussion Thread

^ Nice alert. Thanks.

I've been trying to swing by a Lowes for some sockets, but haven't had a chance. Will be hitting one after work today if all goes well.

I went this morning. I got quite a bit as an employee was changing stickers for prices. Apparently corporate made a mistake and they are correcting the prices. The lady took the old prices off and put them on the items I was buying and told the cashier to honor the prices for the items. The cashier had to manually change the price of everything I bought. Unfortunately, they were already out of all of the extensions.

When I did my trek yesterday I visited 4 different Lowes. 3 actually, one had closed up. :frowning: Never saw that before.

Then at another site, there was Lowes right next to a Loews. (Movie Theater)

If anybody finds some of the extensions for the really cheap sales price and you don’t need ALL of them on the shelf, please purchase extra and I’ll buy them from you. I will take 1/4” but mor interested in 3/8” and 1/2”

Have you checked the online inventory for all surrounding stores? I don’t know your ZIP, but Google turns up 39530 as one for Biloxi and a search shows a few of the stores in the area still have the Kobalt 3/8-in Drive Locking 10-in Socket Extension (SKU #337371) at $2.10 and the 1/2-in (SKU 337363) at $5.99. I would just place online orders and wait for the pickup or cancel email. For their size and weight, it probably won’t be worth it for others to pick them up and mail to you.

WE came across this deal a little late I’m afraid. All stores were already cleared out of the good stuff before I got to them. I got a few of the extensions at the first store I went to, all other stores were cleaned out. In the 1/4” I got a couple of locking extensions, long and short and I got a long a short wobbler. No 3/8ths anywhere and I only found 1 short 1/2 inch drive.

A picture from one of the other stores I was at. From this picture I now notice that a full 9 piece set of “crows foot” wrenches cost $40. On average the individual pieces cost about $1

These 7 piece stubby sets were already gone at all stores.

If it interests anybody

These bike racks are on clearance

If you click on this link you should see the price at your local store. If it is $19.98 then they probably have sold thru and the online price for that store has reset to list. You can change “your” store in at the top of the link to search other stores in your area. This deal seems to be on around the country, but most stores are probably out of stock.
I found some for $3.08 in Ohio

And $1.76 in New York

This deal is strictly hit or miss.

Notice that there are no lights on the bikes.

Just 1 more thing to do this winter

Last night I stopped by "Lo" and picked up some home LED bulbs - 2 packs of 40w equivalents for $2.98 and 2 packs of 60w equivalents for $3.98.

Sorry, I didn't snap a pic of the 60w's. I didn't realize at first that they were different prices.

Hey Garry, it must be nice to have a Home Depot and Lowes right across the street from each other.

I noticed there’s an airport out back, so I thought I would buzz the place.
Unfortunately when I tried to land, I missed the runway.

Aren't they like that in every town? Actually my employer moved and the new town I'm in only has a Lowes and it looks small. I still drive by that Lowe's & Home Depot each day though.

Whoever gets there first will draw in the other as close-by as possible. It’s the way marketing gurus think today, never realizing that at best you can only get half of the other stores customers so you just cut your own throat doing this. Plus if the first store chose a bad location you just followed their failure. Better to do your own thinking and to place your stores where you can gain the most customers, but this tactic does make it easier for those of us who want to shop at both so I’m not complaining at all

I’m going to get some of those 6oW equivalent LED bulbs now, previous higher prices have been keeping me away from the upgrade. Thanks for the heads-up!

Phil

UPDATE: As per my orange store luck, Lowes here did not have those bulbs on sale. I’m beginning to wonder what’s wrong with my State?

I see the same thing with Auto Zone & Advance Auto Parts. They chase each other around and building across the street from each other!

Lowes has put the 2D Lux-Pro on sale for $12.97. Also, some other lights too.

Boy, that’s a blast from the past. Great light just as it is.
I bought quite a few last year but I just looked, I can only find 1. I must have given them all away :open_mouth:
It’s good to know I can get more at that price

Wow, this seems to be true for any store I have searched out!
CT, MA, MO,PA,OH etc.

When I realized that Lowes has 750 Lumen bulbs for 99 cents I dropped everything and headed right over. (only a 4 mile trip).
Sure enough, they had plenty and at 99 cents!

With these available in all States it means that there is no subsidy behind the price, bringing the cost down. These bulbs are made to sell for 99 cents.
As soon as I picked one up I noticed that it felt light. There must not be much heat sinking in it.

Then I noticed the packaging, it gives a life of 1.8 years. What happened to the ever ubiquitous “22.8” years? So they finally figured out how to build in obsolescence?

I bought 2 and plugged one in as I cut the top off the second to see how it’s built. When I finished I checked the one running and already it was very hot at the base. So I figure they just burn up after 2000 hours or so.

So what’s inside?

Hollow Pill! But the base of the bulb is made out of aluminum. Until this I had feared it was just plastic.

What I do like about this bulb, other than the price, is that when in a ceiling fixture pointed downwards, most of the light will be directed to the floor. Some times that is an advantage so these bulbs will be useful to me in some instances.

dchomak, ya think they are worth a buck? I bought 4 to try.

I only bought 2 to test. I will now buy more.
If one doesn’t have other cheap alternatives (subsidy pricing) this is a great deal. You have finally found a deal on LED bulbs that EVERYONE can partake of.
I took the test subject apart futher. I think I might try using four of the stars in a worklight. For only $4 in parts I think I can end up with a 3000 Lumen work light. Each star has 2 holes that could be used to mount to a heat sink, extending the life greatly.

I also picked up a 2-pack of 40 watt Utilitech led bulbs..same format as the aforementioned 99 cent one, and they were on sale for $2.98. The package on the 40 watters says 4.5 years life based on 3 hr a day usage.
