I ordered a Titanium Gray colored version on ebay for $ 4.54 USD that they lists to have a cree XP-E, (but i’m sure it will come with a LB clone.) i bought it to do a mod with it anyways so the LB led will be trashed regardless. Will know more once it arrives.
Here are some pics of a lattice bright XM-L2. Seller assured me before sale the touch had a genuine cree XM-L2. Main difference I see is they are missing the spot in the corner. Ignore the ring on the close it, its just the led reflection from the microscope.
nice photos of the XM-L2 versus the fake LB version, again the Latticebright seems to have the square pads beneath the bond wire connections like i their fake XM-L clones. Also as noted above, the LB fake in those photos don’t have the dot in the corner of the substrate outside the dome.
I bought a couple of XP-G2’s from Ebay. They looks real Cree to me from the light output and tint. Just curious if there are any fake G2s out there yet?
I have an LB XP-E and it looks much different than this one, the two tiny rectangles in the corners are placed diffenently. I’l try to make a close up pic of the fake.
It’s likely LB has been “throwing wrenches” into their LED designs, (meaning they are making them with slight differences even for the same type/model,) to possibly throw off people who are suspecting their operations with this large fake Cree scam from easily identifying their fake leds from the real ones.
Everything about that ebay ad is a scam. ( seller has no feedback, the photos don’t add up, (photos of zoomie beamshots for a reflector-based light) the LED is obvious LB, and comes with a ridiculous claim of 5800mah 18650 cell, all for only $6.52.
Ebay is a place nowadays where 90 % or more of the products you buy are fakes, copies, scams, rip-offs, re-brands, etc. unless your familiar with a honest seller that you have bought from before.
