they can be tricky to get the pill removed, as the switch tends to hook on the body when pushing it out towards the front, breaking a piece from the switch if your not careful.
I have the latest version of the S15 (not rechargeable) with the S15R switch on it.
I took a chance on buying it, as ‘selfbuilt’ cautioned that if you are particular about tint, then you may want to look at a different light. - Or something like that.
I bought it, maybe some 8 months ago?… I was sucked into the idea that since it had been some time, the tint would have been Fixed by then - NOT! - I LOVE Everything about it, except for the tint). - A Sickly, yellow green tint, that apparently doesn’t seem to bother most people?
If tint doesn’t matter to you - Buy It! - That’s Cheap, and it’s a Great Light!
For me - 23 Bucks and the SAME Tint, Plus the recharge feature, and a Free battery? - I’ll pass.
Could you send it to a modder? I ended up liking the UI a touch more then zebralight. Less chance of blinding yourself. Tempted to get another but I never end up keeping doubles. Maybe an S10r II?
After reading thread on the “other” forum regarding S30R problems with tail cap design, I have a feeling that we are getting screw !
S15R has the same tail cap/charging dock design and it will most likely cause same problems.
Such a nice light for a great price sounded just too good to be true but I presumed they were put on sale as a new model is released by Olight, turns out that may not be the case…
Real shame as S15R is really nice, has excellent tint for a cool white emitter (without green tones) And most importantly driver is current controlled (I’m extremely sensitive to PWM) Dock charging feature is awesome for people that are not skilled, which makes it very suitable for gifts.
That is an amazing price. It sadly falls by a small margin into the ‘it might get stopped at customs’ range in the UK but at that price it still works out cheap even if I get caught out for the £8.00 handling charge.
I haven’t really had any problems with my S15R and the charging dock, except for when connected to a cheap USB charger that probably isn’t giving enough current. Unless this is a defective batch? In which case I will promptly initiate the refund process.
Bought two myself, one of them had tiny piece of annodization chipped off near the switch, probably during assembly and defective annodization on its tailcap, but for what Im getting I wont complain, just accepted 3$ store credit from Gearbest and will be happy user.
Using it as EDC light it will be visually messed up in no time :D!
Could it be that they are churning out factory seconds for some reason?
Got it for $25.38(£16.44) once Paypal had taken a slice of the action with the poor exchange rate they gouge us users with. Now I just have to hope that customs don’t notice that it is £1.44 over the limit and charge me an arm and a leg for that £1.44.
