Salvaged Jacob A60 Mod (242kcd - Hard to believe) - Lumen Readings Added

The A60 just has those magical dimensions that make it so special!

Pics are working now.

Very nice build shrick, congrats!

Looking forward to some beamshots :)

All pics are taken with my Galaxy S4  I don’t have a proper camera for beam shots. I’ll see if I can get manual camera settings working on my S4 to try some beamshots.

Seems like manual settings are only available as of Android 5. I’m still running 4.2… no luck then. Will still try to make a plan though.

Hey, I can see the photos! ;)

Very nice,

Modded Jacob is a killer.

Where did you bought Jacob A60? Is it available again?

Your son did a good job of looking after that flashlight for you for all that time. I hope you paid him well for it.

Nice mod. You have made a real winner.

Mmm, good question. Think I got them from DealExtreme around January this year.

Jacob is out of stock everywhere now...

Enjoy in your last one :)

Are my readings in line with what others got? I’ve read about ± 130-150kcd. But 240kcd!?

Yes they should be ok. This is new XP-G2 and dd driver. Regular one should do about 200kcd, and some guys got even lower than that. Secret is with centering.

100% correct… reflector height & centering of the LED… was the most difficult part for sure.

I was very sad when Jacob disappear from market. I just can't believe that... Bestseller flashlight out of stock? Crazy...

I would like to know which factory manufactures Jacob. I would wrote them a mail.

LI… not sure if you’re aware of this thread?

Or, this... new Convoy L2

That is incredible! What is the measured current at tail?

Shrick,

I was not aware of that thread. I signed in for Jacob's return on the market.

Will measure tonight…

 My biggest concern with the light is the extremely ringy beam pattern. I can possibly still live with the low quality and do some ‘upgrades’ around this, like the switch, AR lens, orings etc. Should they decide to make a comeback, I hope they do it with at least an upgraded aluminium reflector. As I realized above, there is LOTS of potential in this reflector, so the design seems good, but the quality of it is just bad.

Sorry but we don't share similar opinion.

I'll answer like this(as i did in other thread):

I would like to see it in old format. Why?

- That would lower production cost so we could have it at 10$ again,

- Plastic reflector can handle any magnum rifle recoil without any issues

About A60 ringy beam haters... Yes it really has ringy beam but only if you hunt white walls

Do you guys actually use flashlight or you are watching the beam on white wall? I don't care about ringy beam because if you field use this you'll not notice a single ring in beam just pure and unbeatable throw for size of flashlight.

Some even more premium SMO reflector throwers(solarforce, lumapower) has similar ringy beam as Jacob so I don't see any issue with that.
