4XAA Nitecore EA45S, "unibody die-cast" XP-L Hi V3

I like it, I love my EC4, but a 4XAA with same good heat transmision, great interface and very , very confortable on hands is  . (but of course, I will buy it depend of price…)

Nitecore EA45S

thank you for this, 1st time I had seen it. I like it! Do you have this light?

Interesting, kind of a double 2xAA light if you care to think of it that way. Still not as aesthetic to my eyes as the EA41, and despite the claims, not as pocketable. If I put something in a pocket, I don’t want it to stick out, but rather be completely contained inside.

I like the form factor and the overall output. The 1-45-310-430-1000 mode spacing is meh! (Good ultralow and turbo, not thrilled by the in-between mode spacings.)

And I’m pretty sure that I’m not going to like the tint.

Beam shots???

Actually I think it’s neutral white, if you like that.

The EC4S that I just bought on a group buy organized by M4D M4X is also supposed to neutral white. If that tint turns out to be good, I might give the EC45S a try.

Why would I pick up the 1000-lumen AA flashlight, when I will already have similar-in-appearance 2150-lumen 18650 version?
- Slimmer, lighter, easier to handle.
- One of the knocks on the EC4S is that the 2-lumen ultralow is much too bright. The EC45S’ 1-lumen is about perfect for my needs.
- I’m addicted to flashlights.

AA fans will love it.

Nice addition for EC series

You need deeper pockets.

To the OP, it's the EA45S, not EC, picky? I know.

I am hoping Nitecore will send one for review and then I can do a giveaway with it. I kind of doubt it, but it's worth the ask. They never have done it directly before.

I would even consider carrying a light like this, with a holster that is, not in a pocket, but 4xAA is just what I would want and I like the body style of these EA lights. Just don't like the pink end cap. That has to go. Remove the Ano and make it shiny or paint it black, but pink has to go.

interesting - but I prefer 4xaa to all be side by side… end to end aa’s are too long.

I like it, I see this being a cracking good gift for nonflashaholics this holiday season.

Same basic shape as the Fenix LD41. I have that one, and it makes a good kitchen drawer light due to the shape (doesn’t roll around) and bright enough to check around outside at night. AA means it’s good for general family use.

Not the best looking light I’ve ever seen but I really like the side-by-side configuration. I still have four modded Propolys that I will occasionally use for night tracking duties during hunting season because of their comfort and runtime. Is this a pure thrower or is there some decent spill involved???

Heard that this EA45S uses hard anodizing on its surface. Is it possible to hard anodize an aluminum alloy surface without bubbles? EC4S and EC4 use stove-vanishing of which I know. Nice light though, thanks for sharing.

Mine should arrive in 1-2 days

I will make some pictures. Without having in my hands, I can say that I like the form factor (slim for 4xAA), the throw is really nice, good levels spacing, true regulation at all levels (without any step down), nice to have a powerful AA flashlight, in some circumstances better than LiIon (absolutely my favorite flashlights )

probably an excellent survival flashlight for bugout bag being AA compatible yet heavy duty constructed

Hmmm. Change the driver and load it up with 14500. Could be a super mod, albeit pricey. Unfortunately I’m not too wise when it comes to e-switch modding.

Even if I knew the dimensions, in reality feels much smaller and I was right, is slim  (more pocketable than SRT6).

Good space between power levels, level 3 could be a little less than 210 lumens, level 4 is absolutely great (good runtime and power, I would say more like 500 lumens than 400, I don’t see a difference between Fenix PD35 TAC at 500 lumens and EA45S at 400 lumens). I don’t see a difference between PD35 TAC at 1000 lumens and EA45S at same level, so should have around 900-1000 lumens.

For a medium hand the switch is a little to far from the body (sometimes you need to reposition the light in hand to change levels) but is just a personal feeling.
The switch is not so stiff like at Nitecore EC11, it feels a little soft - hope to not be a problem for long term (the package does not include a reserve switch) .

Battery compartment is not so “tight” , even with NiMH.

Very nice beam and spill (clean, no rings), the color is clean white to neutral, just a little warmer than my SRT6(clean white), and noticeable warmer than my EC11(cold white).

I would say that is a very nice compact/slim powerful light in AA configuration, I like it a lot. In the night maybe I will succeed to make some beam comparison outside (with Nitecore MT40, Olight M22 dedomed 45000 cd).

Below beam comparison with Nitecore SRT6 at diferent exposures (2 meters from the wall) and some size comparison.

The filter from Fenix TK series fits just fine
