first powerbank with quickcharge?
Look like aukey rebranding into blitzwolf
I bought 2 genuine 10,400 Mah xiaomi power banks for recharge samsung tablets on longer flights. But, now all airlines are banning their use in flight

Ah, I see now. So not the first xD but still cool to see the quickcharge function coming to powerbanks.

Well, the rules are that you cannot pack powerbanks into your checked-in luggage. But you can have them in carry-on. We now have to separate them from our carry-on at security inspection points so they can be manually verified as OK.
I guess their use is banned because of the risk of over heating and perhaps catching fire, or just the chance of emitting some nasty fumes. It is OK for a Boeing 787 to use Li batteries in flight, but not for passengers

Hello HKJ,
great work you’re still doing. My contribution of devices i would like to seen reviewed by you is like follow:

Interesting list, but some of the more interesting ones are fairly expensive.
The “fast charge” cables should be just normal cables (section-wise) with D+ and D- pins shorted. I got a bunch of them and they were weak as hell, the section of the cable was about 0.1mm and they fell apart in no time.
I can’t seem to find much good info on this TrustFire flashlight that supposedly puts out 500lm and can act as a power bank. I carry an 18650 power bank with a weak LED light (50lm?) every day and I’d love an upgrade in which I can also swap batteries if I desire.

Or FastTech’s offering with the 4000 mAh TF battery I probably wouldn’t use much, though I might use the case… https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10000518/1786800-trustfire-tr-a10-1-cree-xm-l2-t6-500lm-3-mode.
My question is, whether the output from the USB-B port is going to be any better than 1 amp.
How about the Jin Heng 12A flashlight/power bank:

It’s one of my favorite lights. Seems very well built and very easy to mod. I put 3A Qlite drivers, better LEDs on Noctigons, and coated lenses in mine.
Would love a review of either of these 1x18650 power banks:

Thinking of ordering the second one. Is there anything that stands out as shoddy on the PCB?
Maybe I’ve missed a fully enclosed 1x18650 power bank that’s already been reviewed as good?
(I would get the Miller ML-102 but it doesn’t fully enclose the battery)

I have ordered these, now the question is if I have time to review them ;)
Interesting list, but some of the more interesting ones are fairly expensive.
That’s possible, but the smaller ones are also interesting. Even the (OLED) Legion 11,000mAh Battery costs just $40
Now the Poweradd TravelMate 24000mAh is available for just 40€ (instead of 160€):

Here’s an inverse suggestion — power SINK ….

USB Soldering Iron 5V 8W
Wondering, if it tweaks your curiousity, whether this use of USB power makes any sense.
8 watts seems a lot. I wondered if there’s any power source compatible with this much load.
Draws at least 1.6A, so must use a 2A USB source. The cable/connector may not coded properly to tell the USB source to drive that current level, but reviews seem to imply that it work. A lot of USB sources will only drive 500 mA or 1A unless the device cable is properly coded. Lots of computer USB ports are limited to 500 mA or 1A regardless of the cable coding.
8W is not much. You won’t be soldering heavy wires/big parts with it. Probably OK for smaller components.
Caution about cables:
Company's cables & adapters work fine with OnePlus 2, but be careful with other devices.
The issue with the OnePlus USB Type-C cable and adapter was similar to some of the dodgy parts that Leung had previously tested: where OnePlus should’ve used a 56kΩ resistor, it instead used a 10kΩ resistor. As a result, a connected device may attempt to draw 3A, when the power source (the USB port on your computer, a third-party wall charger) is only rated to supply 2A, potentially frying your power source.
For example, Google’s new Chromebook Pixel, Nexus 5X, and Nexus 6P will all attempt to draw 3A when possible, to speed up charging. This is why Leung was testing all of these Type-C cables and adapters in the first place.
Yesterday, co-founder Carl Pei took to the OnePlus forums to explain the situation, though he stopped short of actually apologising. In summary, Pei said that the company’s cables and adapters are safe to use with the OnePlus 2—their only device with a Type-C connector—but that you should be careful when using them with other devices and power sources.
I would love to know if this charger is good or only acceptable:

8) thanks!
