Xtar WP2 Charger

There is no sense waiting more after it turned green.

Yes, try to discharge first. Could be the same thing happened to me: first charge - 4.14V or so, then >4.18V ;)

Anyway, it's a good charger for that price :) The only thing I dislike it's the body: the flat part where the cells are placed. That part should be rounded (sorry, don't know how to explain it better. Example here). No prob for 18650/18700 cells, but smaller cells aren't secured as well.

I thought it might trickle charge, or top off after the green light can on. Anyway I've partially discharged my cells down to 3.7 volts, and now I have them on charge again. We'll see what happens.

I see what you're saying about the charger body not cradling smaller cells. It's not currently a problem for me since I'm only charging 18650-700's at the moment. I do have a Tenergy 01269-01 charger that's better at cradling smaller cells..

Getting back to an earlier question I had about posting images from my photobucket account. It's weird because I post pictures to my ebay, macrumors, head-fi, candlepower, etc, etc accounts with no issues. I tried every way possible including the insert/edit image function at the top of this page with no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

atbglenn.. just trying to see if I can insert the pics.. this works?

here we go:

dont know why you cant add pics.. might be because you used the wrong Icon..

you need to click on the little icon with a tree, in between the brush and anchor.. then just add the link.. and done.

I tried that and it didn't work.. I got a broken picture link

Hold on, I I think I might have it...

You need to use the “direct link” from Photobucket. Copy the address and then when you go to make a post here, click on the icon with a picture of a tree and then paste the address of the direct link on the first line of the pop-up dialog box.

It works! Thanks!! The direct link did it! Oh BTW, this is my Fenix collection.

EDIT: ok, I see it works now. BTW, excellent collection of Fenix :p

Thanks! I have a ton of pictures I'll be posting....just kidding! How annoying would that be? lol

Update: I just finished recharging my Xtar 2600mAh 18700's and there is a very slight increase at around 4.1700 volts. Oh one other thing, I got my Trustfire TR-3T6 in the mail today. What a nice torch! Beautifully made too :)

Just received this message from Xtar "Hello, your WP2 charger is real, not fake. For we produced different batches, so the color were different. Don't worry, please. ^_^"

Good to know :)

Good to know. Thanks for the info ;)

Sure thing! Getting and giving information is what this forum is all about. :)

Thanks for the great review. After removing 2600 Cytac 18650 when the light turned green the reading was exactly 4.2v on the DMM. Main thing is the charger feels safe! so far so good

Hi banger79 Welcome to BLF. I've got 2 of these and I'm quite pleased. Although mine never charge to 4.2 volts, more like 4.15 to 4.17 volts. I think it's a very safe charger since the batteries never overcharge, or get hotter than luke warm while charging :)

Got it today!

For Xtar 18650, it ended on 4,17V.

TF Flame 18650: 4,20V

TF 16340 "grey" 4,15V.

Feels quite sturdy, I got even the spacers for the same price!.

Only rant is, one of two spacers has rust in threads.

Works well, great quality to price.

I tried on 4 of my Trustfire flames cell and it charged them to 4.25V . Is it safe to use at that voltage level? Measured with my Fluke meter. I bought it from the same ebay seller as atbglenn got his from.

Hmmm , is it doing it slowly quickly ? When is it doing it ? What is the battery voltage when its doing it ?

Some information please .

If the battery is 4.2v or higher , it could be the Protection circuit [ overcharge protection / but you didnt mention battery ? ]

It could be a faulty or old cell , does it do it with all your batteries or just one ?

You have given no data/information to work from .

I think mine did that once or twice on a 2 different batteries. I think I might of just thrown them away. But not sure. I may have just charged them on another charger.

What I have seen that both mine and my son's Xtar WP2 charger does is when I put a battery that has been used a little but almost fully charged in the battery port opposite of the plug in side and the light will always show green as fully charged a lot of the times. I can then take that same battery that I know could be charged a little to top it off as a fully charged battery and put it on the other battery port(plug in side and it will show red and charging and it will charge for say an hr or so. Now why is that? Something tells me this charger is not set up right on the battery port opposite the plug in.

Is it ok to charge IMR batteries with the WP2? Thinking of buying some Callies Kustoms 18650...

Yes, they can be charger on the same chargers as ordinary LiIon, but it is possible to use higher charger current (This is most interesting if you have a hobby charger).
