Home Depot Deal Alerts & Discussion Thread

Really disapoited that you didn’t post these first!Your really starting to slip, buddy!LOL. How can I continue blaming you about purchases at HD if you don’t post them first? I expect better from you! :stuck_out_tongue:

Seriously though, good to see you here. I hope things are going well for you!

Garry, I had trouble seeing and photographing to LEDs in these lights too. Some where XM-L2s, others XP-G2’s and one of the AA lights looked like an XB-D.
There were other brands also, but I doubt very much any had a Lattice Bright.

As I stood there and shot all those pics, I couldn’t help but think that LED lights are now definitely in the mainstream and, at least here in the States, American retail will take it from there.

I tested a TCP led lamp on a fan control switch and it barely dimmed at all! The LED lamp consumed so little current that the voltage was not pulled down much. I could not see any difference between low, medium, and high. So the fan control switch only works well with dimming high-current lamps, like an incandescent, or maybe a very big LED lamp.
This may be fixable by replacing the capacitors with higher-capacity ones I think.

I also tested the lamp on an old dimmer and it didn’t dim well at all. Half way down it would quickly dim and I can get the lamp pretty dim but it would flicker and be unstable because if I move the slider down a little more, it would die and I would have to slide it up near max and back down. So this lamp does not dim well at all with this dimmer. That is no big surprise; it is an old dimmer. It would probably dim well with a new dimmer.

But I did get 3 ceiling fan light fixtures @ a penny each

What about this photo (dchomer's photo):

Is that an XB-D? And which light was this dch? That's what I remember as being suspicious and definitely not XM-L(2).

:open_mouth: cool

ImageShack now? ImageShack is even worse than Photobucket! They delete images that don’t get accessed often! Whenever you read an old thread with missing images, most of them are from Photobucket and ImageShack.

Use Imgur or Postimage. They don’t delete images.

But not Imageshack, please, they’re the worst! Photobucket is better.

Are those prices in all stores or only that store?

I think it was one of the 2-AA lights. They came in a twin pack. Last year or the year before a 2-AA light had an XB-D. One of my favorite lights. (A couple of weeks ago I swapped out the XB-D in one of them for an XP-G2. Now I like it even more.)

See……

You brag about getting 11 ceiling fan swtiches to my 7. Well I got the lights!
What do you have to say about that?

BTW, I got lots of those lights last year at out of State stores, so who knows? Some of this stuff is constantly going on clearance and then 6 months later it’s back in the store at full price, only to go on clearance again. :~

I used a free Imgur account on another forum and the images were taken down after 30 or 60 days, can’t recall which. That was noted when setting up the account, got what I paid for I guess.

Sad but I’ve yet to find a H-D here that does these discounts though I have at least 5 more to check if I get to those areas. Wondering aloud if there is a pattern to this, ie biggest stores only?

Phil

Weird, I’ve been using imgur(free) for almost 3 years. I’ve got 650 flashlight pics saved on it and pics from as far back as 2 years and 1 month (oldest I could find quickly) still show up.

I wonder if they’ve changed for new sign-ups? I know my pics were dropped and I didn’t do that. I gotta look into that when I’ve got time. I certainly hope I’m wrong here!

Went to the usual Home Depots today, including the one where I got the TCP lamps for $1.20. The TCP lamps were gone!! :_( I looked all around for TCP lamps but couldn’t find them anywhere!!

I found this though. On the top shelf of the clearance for the lighting stuff, there were some TCP BR30 flood lamps. Since this was in clearance and the other TCP lamps were discounted, I thought this may be too. Sure enough, it was. $2.20!

So apparently all the TCP LED lamps are discounted. So be on the lookout of them! Soon they may become 1¢!

Imgur is fast and efficient but the thing I don’t like about imgur is the gallery because whenever I go to upload an image, I tend to get carried away into the gallery, and there is often slightly dirty things there. I use Postimage because it is simple and clean. Just don’t search Postimage on google (nor search the name of any other image host or URL shortener).

I saw those light kits in the store for sale on their shelves like they usually are… I wonder if they’d ring up a penny if I scanned them. :open_mouth:

Does anyone know if Home Depot’s database is the same across all stores or do they vary by store? For example, if an item is $1.20 in one store, will the same item be $1.20 in all other stores?

^

Each store is different.

I saw tons of TCP lights on displays at my HD and I doubt they are discounted. Prices on them weren't great either.

My Home Depot has plenty of the TCP bulbs. They are subsidized here in CT.
60W is 2.88 and the BR30 is 4.88

I installed IMGUR on my iphone, but for the life of me I can’t figure out how to get the link to post it within the iphone app

Today my wife asked if I wanted to go for a ride to the Mall. When I hesitated she reminded me that there was a HD and Lowes across the street.

She dropped me off at HD while she headed over to the mall. I went straight to the big Holiday flashlight section to see if I could get answers to some questions being asked here. While browsing, this guy starts talking to me about how good these flashlights are and how bright they are. He goes on about LED and what it might stand for. Luminous Extreme or something? This guy was old, older than me, but he was clearly excited about these lights. He went on to admit that he has a number and that he had a “fetish” or something about them. That is how HE explained it. I guess he had nothing else to compare it too.
I told him that I got it too and there is actually a place for people like us, and I told him about BLF.
Maybe he’ll join.

Anyway, I showed him a couple of the deals I had just come across and led him over to this display.

This is a 28 piece drill and driver set for $2.83. 10 cents per drill and they are NOT junk!
He grabbed a few, I grabbed 5 and we parted

Here are some other deals at that store.
