Driver for one xml2 at 6 amps and 2x18650 in series

Hi, I have been looking for a way to run 1 xml2 on copper with 6A current. I want to run this led for longer then just a few moments before the battery goes bellow forward voltage of the LED at 6A. For this reason I want to use 2x18650 in a series and I modded my Small Sun ZY-T08 for this purpose. Now I am looking for the best driver for this purpose. I would like to use something like a moded nanjg 105c driver with programmable Attiny13a. Is there a way how to mod this driver to work on 2x18650 in series and one xml. Or which driver would you recommend? Thanks.

The closest thing to what you’re asking is the MTN-MAX buck driver from mtnelectronics.com. The problem is that it needs direct mounting to handle the heat, so it might fry if stacked in your T08.

Thanks for a nice suggestion. Looking at the description of this driver, I think that 6 amps is too dangerous for the emitter. Do you know about a similar driver for the same or lower price from other sources ideally with free shipping?

Well the best one would be with programmable Attiny but I guess it does not exist. Maybe I could use 105c for that but I would need to use the zener diode not only for MCU but for the whole driver. If this diode lowers the voltage to forward voltage of xml2 at 5a, I guess it might work. However I am afraid the zener diode might fry. What do you think?

One more question, how long does an xml2 with normal 5a moded nanjg 105c and two 18650 in paralel stay on highest output before it goes down for lower voltage?

I thought the 2-cell version is for 6V emitters?

It comes as 9A Driver but you can easily modify it to 6A by taking down 3 of the 9 sense resistors.

Hi marruz. The HX-1175b1 is a 32mm buck driver designed to deliver 7amps stock. It can be resistor modded to deliver less. It does not have an Attiny13a MCU, but you could air wire one onto it.
