ALL THINGS BUDGET KNIVES

Damn thats a nice Ganzo! Didn’t see that till today! I’m saving up for an Ontario Knife Company Chimera Survival Knife HEHE

Guys, I was thinking if we should create a thread of reputable AE stores selling sought after blades. This info is then constantly updated in OP. I think it’ll be easier for us all to refer to that list!

Please check FastTech shipping cost
Last time I checked it was almost $30 to Europe
It kills all knife-deals there for me
$18.21 at GearBest

I have that exact model - I find it absolutely superb. My only very minor gripe is that the upper edge of the compression lock is a wee bit sharp so could do with the 90 degree angle softening a little with a file. I haven’t got round to doing it yet. I think mine worked out at about £17 but it is still incredible VFM.

I am ordering one this week. I want to try the serrated edge blade!

LINK !! HOwd I miss this? Where! J)

Wow, I didn’t checked the shipping cost…only 30$, what a bargain… :Sp
Thank you FT, but not this time…I hate ordering from GB as well but if it’s the only choice well…will try

It’s a pleasant folder for the money. The chekering of the G10 is quite agressive so you don’t have to worry about having a firm grip on it. I chose the part serrated version :

Is the flipping of the blade smooth? No lateral or vertical play?

I have one of those. Mine weights 94 g and it comes with a slightly thinner blade than the real one (2.9mm vs. 3mm).

It’s smooth without any blade play.

I haven’t had many (any?) budget knives without blade play. It’s been a while though. Maybe they have gotten better. You guys are going to make me find out.

Hey beamO: where did ya find the spyderco knock off for $14.79?

Got a link?

The one you ordered is still in the shop, now in another offering

Thank you very much for explanations about compressor lock.
So, another question: if you have/can comparated them, which lock is better from a Spyderco clone (with compressor lock) and a “original” SpyderGanzo with linear lock?

In my opinion, the axis lock wins over the compression lock. In my use they are equal in safety, and both are fun to play with (flip-in-flip-out-…)
The ambidextrous axis lock makes the SpyderGanzo a winner
I can easily deploy the blade with left or right hand when needed
I also like the symmetry of it as there is no front/back side

Still waiting for the G731 Tri-Ad Lock (as if that will ever happen)
That lock is solid

In short the SpyderGanzo has the better lock imo

My order of preference of the three is
1)compression
2)axis
3)liner.
It’s really just a matter of preference though. A good liner lock is plenty strong enough, but axis and compression are stronger. You have to do some really heavy work to compromise a well built example of any of them. It’s more about what you like opening and closing.

The safest lock system in the world is the tri-ad-lock but it is not enough to copy it, the materials used are very important too.
About lock systems… really it is almost more important the quality with the lock system is done than the type of system. But each system have some individual characteristics. I like the axis and the framelock but i have seen ALL types of lock system fail but not the triadlock on tests.

Materials, tolerances and execution.

Yes that is.
