Rechargeable Nitecore NL14500A not charging.

Asking because I’m not familiar with these batteries.
I’m using my new Nitecore D2 and a new Nitecore NL14500A (3.7v) rechargeable battery, the screen show “Chg. Finish” but only show 1.60v ? I tried the battery in my EA11 and it doesn’t work or turn on the light. I tried a different brand of 14500 battery and the EA11 works perfect. I’m wondering if something is wrong with the Nitecore battery or the charger? Why it show less voltage if it’s full charged? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

Did you use the “mode” button. I have no D2 myself, but the review of HJK states that “The charger will assume NiMH below 1.8 volt and LiIon above 1.8 volt.”.
My impression is: if the charger “thinks” it’s a NiMH, it will never charge on to LiIon levels. Unless you can override that “thought” via a button.

can you meassure which voltage the cell actually has?
if its below 2.5V there is something fishy…

I placed it back in the charger and shows battery is full charged but when I measured the voltage it read 0.47v while my other two non-Nitecore 14500 batteries read higher than 3.7v after been recharged in the same charger.

+1

Sounds like your Nitecore battery went kaput…you should never discharge a Li Ion battery below 2.75vdc for long…if it’s reading 1.8…something is bad wrong!

If your battery reading shows below 2.5v, maybe you can “jump-start” your battery before you put it in the charger.
There are some posts on how to “jump-start” batteries with almost dead voltage before you put back in the charger.
There are risks involved in this method, so only proceed if you know what are you doing

Is it a protected cell?
It may have stuffed up
Try removing the protection and charge’’ if your charger can charge unprotected cells’’
I had something similar with one of my Panasonics recently
