Test/Review of Imren IMR18650 2500mAh (Purple)

Imren IMR18650 2500mAh (Purple)

Official specifications:

  • Brand: IMREN
  • Weight: 50g
  • Capacity: 2500mAh
  • Length : 64.99mm
  • Diameter: 18.24mm
  • Voltage: 3.7V
  • Excellent high-current discharge performance
  • Model: 18650
  • Material: Li-Mn
  • Discharge rate: 40A

A fairly high capacity cell with very high current rating.

The cells are not perfectly matched, but fairly close. I do not believe the 40A rating, the 30A looks like it is too much for this cell.

Conclusion

It is an acceptable cell, but I would not go above 20A on it.

The batteries was supplied by Imren for a review.

these people don’t even bother using correct SI prefixes

mAh written as MAH
so 2500 MEGA-Amp hours-thats a new record…

HKJ, are you planning to upgrade your testing equipment in order to test above 30A (e.g. for 26650 IMR cells)?

I have not seen any batteries yet where there really was a requirement for more than 30A discharge. I have equipment to do 60A, but I need a bit software work to use it and it will not be 100% compatible with the rest of my testing (Charging and discharging would be on other equipment).

At the current time I am looking on including temperature and full 4 terminal measurement (i.e. getting rid of the few mOhm i have in my clamps). This means that high current curves will look better, than in my current test.
