When I learned Google was switching to type C cables as the ‘new standard’ for this latest generation of Nexus devices I was annoyed.
All these cables I have now would suddenly no longer be useful…. More plastic consumer crap on it’s way to the landfill….
Is the standard microUSB really so bad that Google had to make a change to type C?
USB C can handle more current, is reversible and has the same connector on both ends. This is probably worth the breaking change in design.
+1
I definitely welcome the new standard. I'm not a fan of Apple products and their proprietary designs but I do have a newer iPad for my flying and their plug design is a breeze to work with as it fits either way you plug it in. I've been wishing they were all this way and with the new USB-c design it is. Hopefully this change will be the last one for a long time and is certainly over due.
I learned a long time ago when using type A USB connectors to just before you plug in the connector to reverse it… works every time. Type A connectors emit a psychic field that causes you to get it wrong… unless you are on to their evil ways.
LOL!
Every other time I plug my phone in! XD
I like the idea but wonder how reliable this type if connector will be, and how the female side will hold up after many insertions?
Must. Resist. Giggles.
dad always said that the male side wears out long before the female side
