This batch should be without that hole. I asked for it, but Factory refused to do it.. (probably a tooling issue - or just too costly to manufacture)
That being said, they may have had some spare bodies from some earlier batch. (just assembling them with the Nichia emitter). If you got one with a hole, be happy with it. If not, you got what we ordered. :)
None of the samples and all of my lights I have opened/checked have had the hole.
As for the FT light being the same, that's mostly correct. However, the switch might be different (more loose, rattling, softer spring). That was one of the changes the factory did for us. :)
Ordered when code was first provided and received my 5 today. All work well, leds are centered. No hole. Impressed with the quality of machining especially at this price point. Joints are nearly invisible though some are better than others. My first Nichia of this type and I like the tint, color rendition. If it sounds like I’m happy it’s ’cause I am.
Thanks the, nice job.
Yeah, that’s the experience I’m having NightSpy. As long as I’m holding it in my hand, it doesn’t get unbearable and I wouldn’t want to set it down with it on using the 10440.
I tried a Energizer lithium cell in it and to me, it’s almost twice as bright using the 10440.
I decided to order a few of these as gifts.
I have two nephews ages 4 and 6. Is this light ok for that age?
I’d be gifting it with Energizer Lithium L92 AAA’s and from reading here it just gets a little warm during use with regular primaries.
I’ll also give them tips on not to leave the light running unattended and not point it at anyone’s face.
To me it seems like a decent light for them but any advice from you guys is appreciated!
I see no real dangers with gifting this light using primary cells save for the usual brightness tempting misuse. I’m liking it so much I may fast-ship a few more here for additional Christmas presents.
