on left is the Tool with PWM. On right is a new Maratac, which has No PWM, and the ring around the reflector. Other Lumintop tools are appearing, with No PWM and the ring around the LED, in the reflector.

Yes,
the centering ring coincides with the new No PWM circuit being used in the latest release by Lumintop of both Tools and Maratacs.
The GB Tool will have a No PWM circuit, and will have the centering ring. The driver will be different, but the copper body will look the same as earlier Tools that came without the centering ring, and used PWM.
The new Lumintops do NOT use PWM and yes they have the centering ring in the reflector…
I hope that is more clear… fwiw, these are my opinions, based on my experience and research. I am not officially involved in the design of Lumintop Tools, I just buy them, test for PWM, and report my observations.
imo the Group Buy Lumintop Tool is the ONE to get, IF you value No PWM, High CRI, and a low of 1 Lumen.
if otoh, you are into Max brightness, then dont buy an N219 light. In fact, buy a Maratac, they are brighter than the Tool (if you are OK without the clickie). Or get Vinhs custom Tool that uses LiIon
and btw, do NOT use LiIon in any version of the Tool, nor in the Maratacs. (Except the ones with a driver Swap that Vinh sells.)

I personally am very excited by the Group Buy Tool features and have ordered more than one. I expect the Tool head will Lego to my Copper Maratac, and vice versa too.

Didn’t know what you meant about ring, thought at first you meant glow in the dark ring.
But anyway, my black Tool received 3 weeks ago from Gearbest has no PWM and No Ring around the LED.
Just tried it shining against a large computer fan and there is no difference from hi-med-low.
My Tank007 E09 by comparison shows the blades on med. and low.
My Tool unit still starts on Med. like the older models.

Some news good, some bad: 1. Group buy goes on, 2. Driver availabe, 3. Shippment delayed.
The time line is a little too tight, the production is not going very well. Orders can't be shipped in the 1st or 2nd week as we planned.
In this case, I asked them to make a new batch of bodies, with custom logo, and some extra drivers available.
Estimated shippment will be in the 3rd or 4th week of December.
Driver is 6$/pc, limited to 50pcs only, it's now only available for the people who are already in the group buy. You can find my paypal in the earlier PM.
