Brinyte B158 Flashlight GB- Ordering is a GO with coupon, all details in the OP! Updated: 12-09-15

Ok, I’m almost in for around 10-20 of these. It does not really mind which I’m taking, will strip out everything and rebuild. I presume it will be best to add mine to the red section to get the most qty there? Let me know. Will also take around 10 qty of the bare pills, hope the price on these can also drop a bit more? Would have been great if Brinyte could incorporate screw-in retainer ring for the driver - will make this light a winner.

But, before I confirm, I see there’s quite some rings when zoomed in? Could anybody maybe fiddle with some matt black paint to see if these go away?

I’m going to primarily use these as gun mountable options. KKW, I know you’re into hunting… do you have any concerns around this light being used on guns? Do you 100% approve of the mounting mechanism supplied with the light.

A few more questions…

Whats the price on the remote switch?

Whats the quality of the remote switch. I know the switches for the UF-XXX models are quite cheap?

Did anybody test the resistance of the remote switch? Or, maybe the drop in output whilst using it? Trying to accurately find out how much performance will be lost in using them.

Thanks!

I’ve found that the beam in zoom or flood is quite ring free compared to most zoomies. The light I modified had nothing done to darken the interior of the head, and at more than 30’ it’s almost impossible to see any rings in the beam outside. I’d rate the beam quality as excellent on this light.

As for the rail mount, I actually am not a hunter, though I have many friends who are. The light I have is actually getting sold tomorrow to a friend of mine who is a hunter for his AR. If I had any gripes about the mount it would be the height. An extra 4mm of height would have allowed the head to clear the rail, as it sits it would need to be mounted all the way forward, or a shim and longer screws to raise the mounting position. This could be as simple as drilling a couple of holes through a block of the right height, width, and length, or a trip to the hardware store for a couple of aluminum tube style spacers.

I wasn’t aware there was a pressure switch specifically for this light, but I just put one of the pressure switches for the 1504 in the B158, it’s a direct swap. I put a jumper on the spring on the 1504 pressure switches when I use them, as most of my lights pull a fair number of amps. By eye I’m not seeing a huge difference in output compared to the stock switch with jumper on the spring. I think I tested the drop at one point in a 1504 and it was pretty minimal compared to the stock switch, maybe a 5-10% loss in candela output. YMMV

By the way, mhanlen, go ahead and put me down for 20 bare pills total to match my 20 lights. Just remembering having to take that driver retaining ring off is weakening my resolve not to spend the extra $60.

Thanks for the feedback KKW. I normally try to get the beam pattern on my lights as perfect as possible - makes me feel better :). Sure I’ll get the ringyness better with some fiddling. I’m in for 20 x red then… also put me down for 20 x pills - its a pity we need to buy these!

Edit: I see 2 ‘issues’ with this light, take note its quoted. Its a bit of a waist buying extra pills to get away from the effort of getting the driver out & being able to fit a 20mm MCPCB. Sure its relative, I’m just thinking what would make this zoomie the next best selling, compact, ‘Zoom King’. We’ve been looking for such a light for some time now…

Did not specify, I’m in for the bare pill… Thanks!

Count me in for one red light. Thanks

I absolutely agree on the extra pills. They’re wasting time, labor, and money, by not making hosts available. But, I have tried to get them to do that- both Gear Best and Brinyte, and if 1 party isn’t interested then both parties aren’t interested. The bare pills is a whole other thing. I thought they wouldn’t happen for quite sometime. But then they surprised me, and said it was going to happen. The brass retaining rings WILL be shipped with the pills to Gear Best, according to my contact at Brinyte. So that’s some good news.

The momentary switch can be bought through Brinyte’s Aliexpress store, but as of now Gear Best will not carry it. I have exchanged well over 100 emails/messages with Brinyte and Gear Best- many of them the same ground other message already have. Being able to talk to Brinyte has really helped, and my contact there is easy to work with, and is a pretty nice guy.

Anyway, I’ll try and get that link to Aliexpress for you.

And another piece of sort of good news. The lights are currently being shipped to Gear Best. BUT, honestly the quantities aren’t going to be enough to satisfy the group buy as it stands now… and even before it still was about 5 lights to short. I have brought this up to Gear Best a few times, and they seem to really want to play it safe on quantites. Time for another half dozens messages.

I would just like to clarify that I’m in for the 6.59 pill (right now I’m ‘pending’ on the list)
And good luck with further negotiations!

Please sign me up!

1 White Light (XML2 U2 CW)
1 Red LED Brass Modules (about $10)
1 Bare Brass Modules- (Less than $9)

Thanks for the work you have done putting this buy together!

I am optimistic in ordering a empty pill. I don't have the tools or know-how to add the emitter and driver I would like!

It should be fairly easy. You’ll need some thermal paste like this. A soldering iron and some solder. You can order parts from Mtn. Electronics like the 17mm MTN-DD driver and a emitter. They throw best if they’re dedomed… I just got an XPL HI, which is already dedomed… but the XP-G2 may be better- you’ll have to dedome it yourself though.

Install on the brass module should be very straightforward. Fit the driver inside the brass ring that comes with the bare pill, and press it into place. Then solder the two wires on the emitter. I am going to try and make a video of me doing it.

Hey you’ve got me on the list already for a finished light but I’m gonna want a couple of those empty pills, too. Put me down for 2 of then please.

Got it!

Also, everyone just double check I have your quantities right. If I screwed up let me know and I’ll fix it. This thing is really blowing up! I don’t think Gear Best anticipated demand to be this high. So please have patience, because they will have to restock. I got a message from Brinyte last night telling me the exact quantities they ordered.

So yes, they still haven’t ordered the complete Red/Green modules yet. I have sent them an email this morning to recheck this thread because they need to update their quantities. I’ll hold off on ordering my 5 pills for now, so others have a chance.

I see Gearbest specifies the LED as being U4 binned? Is this correct? And, what will the tint be? If this is actually the case, this LED might actually be useful to me :).

I’ll get confirmation on that xml2 Bin… But I just heard back from Brinyte that both red and green modules use xp-e emitters. Not xp-e2. My version from Brinyte is a cool white.

I hope i am not too late for this GB. Please sign me up for 1 red light and 1 bare brass module.

The output improvement redXP-E -> redXP-E2 is considerable btw, like 20%

Ok, thanks mhanlen. If its U4 binned around 6500K I might switch my order to white… If possible, can you also find out the tint? Sorry for the hassle. I’ll await your feedback.

Could you add me for

1x White B158
1x Bare brass pill

?

Thx Mhanlen

I’ll try to get the color temp, but no promises on that. These answers usually have a day or two delay time because I get the emails in the middle of the night oftentimes. Although the guy at Brinyte keeps long hours… I’ll get emails all the way until 7a or 8a and as early as 9pm at night.

Ok, thanks

One white B158
