Yikes, that is one scary response. It's one thing to get banned based on the mods opinion, it quite another thing when he lambasts you like that in a public forum. It's just bad form, but you can't argue with them, that's how it is there.

you must be p%$#@! off at the condescending idiot, especially since he has the position of authority. try not to let it bug you, instead be proud that you got under the skin of a bunch of jerks. i really find it hard to stomach a whole lot of the dismissive, self righteous bs that i read on that forum, which is why i rarely go there anymore at all, and why i really like it here. a good amount of people here are really just online "buddies" if you will, chatting about a common interest, sharing stuff they know and learn, and not trying to be bullies. pretty cool, especially given that other option. if i were in your shoes, i know this is childish, but i would wait for my ban to be lifted, and then say something that would make it permanent.
I've stopped going there at all. I spent many hours a day reading all of it a few years ago - but once they started shoving every thread on lights I was interested in into Jayki's thread which made it impossible to find anything in there as it was so massive, I gave up. I have had several logins there - I can not now be bothered creating a new one as it isn't worth the irritation that the mods there hand out.
Sociopaths make very, very poor moderators. Empath is a classic - the guy has less empathy than your average fencepost. And a comparable IQ. And don't get me started on DungMasticator51!
Then Jayki and Mr. Admin came along and made it all better. Sadly, Jayki's site now seems to be offline a lot.
And Mr. Admin has done a wonderful job here. For which I am hugely grateful.

Regarding leaving a parting post of choice words...it is tempting but it doesn't hurt anyone but me. It doesn't really "hurt" me either but there are two issues. One, lowering myself to their standards doesn't say much about me :) and two only a few people would read it before it was deleted and if I ever wanted to post again I'd have to go through all the crap involved with a new account over there.
Since you have to sign up separately for the Marketplace and CPF something I never did until recently I'm banned only (for the moment at least) at CPF. By the way, I've noticed that the Marketplace goes down even more frequently than CPF.
I just sent DM51 a PM via the Marketplace account pointing out the error of his ways and requesting that he reconsider the ban just out of the general principal of the thing. I pointed out that the person I was accused of being rude to has no issue with me. We've actually exchanged PM's (the other member and I) and communicated like most human being do and all is well. I pointed out that his (DM51) public remarks to me were ruder than what he was accusing me of.
So, he will either now ban me on the Marketplace, do nothing, or increase the ban in duration on CPF. At least I was civil to him, did have a chance to address what was going on, don't expect anything constructive to come from him but did at least get to comment which is the biggest problem with the whole CPF management "style". They can do whatever they want to and there is no recourse.
They blame it on being a big site and on trying to weed out spam but no one is complained about their anti-spam controls. They've just set themselves up to be able to be rude and not have to deal with any consequences from that.
I think the part that gets me a bit upset is the cowardly approach of banning someone so they can't match wits (I mean respond) and then they trash you in public and then admonish everyone who's still left to ..."let's get this back on track please" :) Somehow it makes my skin crawl when those guys use the word "please". :)
Wish I could have seen what all the trouble was about. Kaichu certainly took offense in one post quickly for no apparent reason, but I guess everything else has been sanitized for our protection. I don't mind moderation and I know they want to keep things on topic and nip things in the bud before they get out of hand, but they're so freaking arrogant about it! There are no personal attacks allowed, but then the moderator goes and clearly makes a personal and very public attack against you?! It's pathetic.
I think CPF is so terrible...

The CPF BICKERING SHIT is driving me away from this forum, many times I've seen guys here legitimately banned and they come here crying. Can't remember who it was, someone wit a vulgar avatar the other day. I didn't even know about CPF till I starting reading all the shit here.
Edit: I even notice one member here has his ban like a medal of honour in his signature, even though his ban ended months ago acording to his sig.
Please delete my account, this forum is typical of the youth of today they don't care for rules or aurhority and will throw a tantrum any chance they get.

Your usual preference is to portray yourself as a wise and knowledgeable older member, but on this showing, you are clearly not up to it. *I have reviewed all of the posts that were deleted from this thread and decided to unban gcbryan. I have made this decision because he was not the only one who posted unnecessary and inappropriate responses in this thread. Several of you should have been banned due to your behavior. In the interest of fairness, if one is to be banned then all should be banned. However seeing as how I *DO* believe most of you are capable of behaving as adults, I have decided not to do that. Two moderators had to step into this thread to get it back on track. You all know the rules of these forums and how you are expected to comport yourselves. You should not need to be reminded... but when you are, it should be heeded. Further rude, trollish and baiting behavior *WILL NOT* be tolerated... the bannings will begin until morale improves.
The thread title says it is another CPF post, so you can skip it if you want. If you're at CPF, you can't write about it, so this is really the only place to vent.
Nice that they have rescinded the ban on gcbryan, but of course they still haven't deleted the moderator's attack on him, calling him condescending and sneering.
I just received an email from Greta with a link to the post mentioned above. I don't know if it was my PM to DM51 (I would imagine so) or whether Greta suddenly decided that my banning was unfair.
In true CPF fashion however they admit no mistake on their part and still leave the rude remarks made by DM51 toward me and she still gets in a little lecture to others involved.
The bottom line was that no moderation was ever needed.
I thanked her for the lifting of the ban but requested that she take another look at DM51's comments and I filled in a few facts that she may not be aware of.
Southern Aurora don't let threads like this drive you away from BLF. If you don't like threads talking about CPF don't read them. I don't entirely disagree with your remarks however if you are implying that I deserved to be banned then I will respectfully disagree with that.
I wouldn't agree however that anyone who decides to talk about CPF or any other topic in the Off-Topic Chatter forum is "crying" anymore than I would characterize your post as whining.

at the rate they're going, they won't have anyone but shills and newbies left to post. they're chasing away a lot of members who contribute good content.
