Very interesting that it survived 25min on a 10440, but the big question is did you use an IMR10440 like Efest? Or a lesser ICR 10440 like the ultrafire or soshine for example?
Do you mean by “gets brighter and dimmer” that it slowly moves up and down in output that seems to be regulated by the heat? And did you test in the hand or tailstanding with no extra heatsinking than itself?
I just laid it on the ground like I do with all my runtime tests. No fan, and no extra heatsinking. Yes exactly, it gets brighter and dimmer, brighter and dimmer like thermal regulation often behaves. Yes, I used the eFest 10440. I tried measuring the light’s temperature, but since the surface is polished, my laser thermometer will not get a reading off the light.
Tracking still says it is in Germany. I’m sure it will stay there forever, now that the package is with me and there’s nothing to scan. For what it’s worth it seems that the shipper is the problem, not Gearbest.
Anyhow I love the light. Really good, smooth and beautiful tint. I must say thanks to the and Gearbest for making this deal.
If you stick a little bit of black electrical tape on the light you can get a decent reading from an IR thermometer And remember it is hottest right where the pill are.
Let me guess. On the left is the original SingFire 348. In the middle is the current BLF 348 Nichia 219B, and on the right is the BLF 348 Warm White that was part of the first group buy.
The true test of the visual quality of the Nichia emitters is how they render colors, not how “white” they appear on a wall.
Like you, I wasn’t particularly happy with the tint when I first tried it and looked at it on a white wall. But when using it for practical applications, I have to admit that it does do a better job of bringing out the natural colors of areas lit by it.
As a signmaker that has to match colors...that is more important
I only regret that I did not get more of these. I got them just to toss as gifts and after I tried one changed my mind but I still ended up only one that sits in shirt pocket all the time or it would probably be gone too.
That is ok. This buy took a while to get to where it needed to be. Sometimes it just needs a bit to soak in and I think that because we have had what seems to many buys that people do not notice them as they used to.
The Nichia and the AAA/10440 makes this a very useful light.
Anyone care to test a protected 10440 for me? I don’t own a battery and someone wanted to know if they fit. I would think so, but I don’t want to give someone the wrong info.
ReManG confirmed a protected cell doesn’t fit in another thread. It isn’t a length thing though, it’s a diameter thing. So the extra mm in diameter do matter. I’m glad I asked.
I am still waiting for EB/GB to address the issue that I ordered 10 and only received 5!
They do NOT want to address this matter and are ignoring my inquiries as to when they will send the other 5, which now are far too late to be the planned Xmas gifts they were purchased for.
Further to this, they have requested pictures to prove this, yet fail to explain how I am to take a picture showing nothing.
I feel for the OP as it appears the OP has placed immense effort into this and I fear will be unduly tarnished due to the action of a bunch of crooks.
GearBest, you’re a bunch of crooks and you damned well know it!
This GB is sold out, so you are posting in the wrong thread. There is another group buy currently going on for these lights, and that is where you need to post if you want to get on the list.
