The thread about fixed knife bargains in fasttech, gearbest, ebay or others...

At 45$ and with that short blade i think it isn’t very budget, for the price you must get other brand knives. I don’t say it could be a good knife, only that the price is not “budget”. For that i try to put 2 levels: <=10.99$ and <=20.99$. There are a group from that shops that can fit in that range, i have 3 from level 1!!

This will be a bit tough with the price limit being $20. There are a few between $20-$30 but i haven’t seen many I’m interested in, sub $20. I find its much easier to find a quailty folder in the sub $20 range. Maybe I need to look around a bit more.

You can buy high quality authentic Mora for under $20. So why even bother to look in China?

I could justify something like this if the sheath is as good as it looks…. more than half of a fixed blade is the sheath, otherwise how do you carry it? So $20 for the knife $25 for the sheath…

Seriously, stuff like the Mora Knives, the sheath makes the knife, otherwise it is a kitchen utensil… I love the Mora Knives, an their sheaths work, but they are plain…

Yes you can a mora companion or pro under 20$ but a mora does not the good looking of some chinese knives, bushcraft, tactical or combat knives.
Moras are good but very thin, no wide blade too and so…

There are some cima and hx outdoors in gearbest and everybuying but cheap cimas under 10$ in my opinion they do not seem get the “bargain gem” title, only the “cheap and cheap made” knife. 3cr13mov steel… you get what you pay, a bargain is another thing.

I also prefer fixed blades. They are much more substantial. It seems Folders are more popular, but I always feel like eating a Whimpy burger after I open one up. I’m pretty sure Popeye carried a Ka-Bar.

Has anyone ordered a fixed blade from Gearbest and actually received the knife? I noticed a few people posting they were not receiving their knives from Gearbest. I ordered a Cima knife over a month ago: nuttin so far :frowning:

They are loosing a lot of fixed and folder knives if you did not pay the tracking number. My g720 was lost but resended after. The problem is the post, each time is more difficult to send knives.

Mmmm, really i do not understand that about the burger, why you feel like eating a burger if you use a folder knife?

I take it you’re not familiar with Popeye? And Wimpy? Gladly pay you Tuesday for a burger today.

Popeye really don’t need any Ka-Bar anyway.

Yes i know popeye, but from i was a kid. “Wimpy” was “Pilón” in Spain. Still i do not know very well the burger and the feel using a folder but, it does not matter xD

The only Cima folder I’ve used wasn’t good. The fixed blades they have are good… But there are sheath sheath QC problems for some. Finding a good fixed blade under $20 with a good sheath is nearly impossible.

This is incorrect.

The standard Mora Companion, yes, has a thin blade. Look at anything in the Mora Robust, HD or Craftsman line… not so thin at all. The Mora Bushcraft Black, as well as the Mora 2000, issued to Swedish military ground forces, all have thicker blades, up to 3.2mm

Mora of Sweden makes more than just one style of knife blade.

I know it. But some of them are much more expensive than 20$, like the mora black. Others are thicker and cheap but only the carbon steel ones (i do not buy carbon steel because i hate maintenance).
In all way, you can find 4mm to 5mm blades down to 20$ from chinese market.

I purchased one of these Schrade SCHF36 and ended up sending it back twice because the blades were curved. I didn't expect a whole lot from a $30 knife but I couldn't live with a bent blade. They get great reviews but my experience wasn't good.

It seems like it would be less expensive and easier to make a fixed blade knife than these Axis folders with all of the different materials and assemblage .

I don't even need a sheath or handles just a few holes for paracord will do.

Maybe there is little demand for this.

That’s true. You can get thicker blades in that price range. The quality may or may not match a Mora. But sometimes thicker blades are less useful. It depends on the intended purpose. Thicker blades will not cut all materials as well. The difference can be seen in the Mora Companion vs Companion HD.

Going from a 2.0mm blade thickness to 3.2mm puts a good amount more metal behind each cut.

And both balde thicknesses are available in Sandvik stainless. No need to buy only the carbon steel if you don’t want to.

But, if you happen to need or want a thick 4 or 5mm wide blade, go for it. Those will lend themselves well to chopping tree limbs and the like. But 5mm is almost a solid 1/4” wide. That’s a hell of a thick blade. Thems’ be Becker BKx territory!

Some of these 5mm blades are as heavy as a small hatchet.

This knife from chinese shop could fit in the range:

Somebody has tried?

Looks like a lot of clone stuff, using what used to be good brand names out there, just like everything else, but as far as quality, you probably will not know till you get into the real knife forums more, or try buying some stuff. I see some stuff in those searches, that I would try for $10-$15, if I were into fixed blade, but folders have come so far, I don't think I would ever bother with a fixed blade any more, where I couldn't conceal it easily.

Good luck.
