LED Lenser 14.2 - a 4xAA flashlight

Any fans of this light? I’ve been using one for a month or so at work. It lasts a full day of heavy use for me, I was just wondering if there are any other 4xAA lights worth checking out?

The Sunwayman M40A xml u2 is first rate albeit rather pricey. It gives out about 600 lumens for well over an hour, and is well regulated, so the output is pretty much constant. The battery canister is very well made and not plastic. It uses a rotary switch. The SWM D40A is cheaper and uses a button switch. There are many similar lights. The Nitecore S45 or whatever it is called is much brighter at the cost of runtime. Check out selfbuilt’s reviews of some 4AA lights.

Have a look at a Thrunite TN4A i and many others really like this torch i run it on eneloop pros and am very pleased with its performance.

sunwayman d40a neutral white

can be had for $39, one of the best in its class.

the thrunite is also good

I have a Led Lenser P7

I don’t like zoomies.

And I don’t like the horrible ice-blue tint.

But I do like the flashlight’s build quality. It is extremely well manufactured. It’s one of my earlier LED buys, maybe circa 2004 or 2005. Still sits on my desk and I use it almost daily.

So, while I don’t have a LL 14.2, I can guess that it will last you many years to come.

LedLenser, no more for me… very high money, very low light. The most expensive disappointment of my life.

Sunwayman D40A, Nitecore EA4, Nitecore EA41, Nitecore EA45S, Fenix E41, Jetbeaam SRA40…

But are any of those alternatives the same beam type? LED Lenser are zoomers with a great flood. Your list are not like that so for many they are just not good alternatives. Zoomers are great indoors and for close up inspection as you don’t get a blinding hotspot.

A torch with a low level will work fine for close up work. Led Lenser always seem expensive and many are not even regulated. Are any of them regulated?

A torch with an even beam is far better for close up work, trust me.

And a diffuser is better again.

You never used true flashlight…
