5xT6... come on, you know you want to

niceee...

That head with three xm-l's in wider/deeper reflectors than current offerings.

I have been looking at this light, Im waiting to buy this until there is a proper review. Also I saw a warning on manafront not to run the light on high for a long time. I am excited about a light having 5 emitters this powerful. I already have a 3xT6 which is very bright as it is.

I want 6 xml

Seriously... doesn't this remind you of the razor commercials: 2 blades for a cleaner cut! Now with 3 blades!! The Schick Quattro!!!

I really dig this light. So who wll be the lab rat? I’m also waiting for a review before I buy it.

Enquired on the tailcap current from Ric, he is able to do it. It says 5 x 1.5A. It should get at least 2.5A with good 4.2V cells....to 2.8A for not so charged ones and say TF Flames.

MF just said 1.5A, if it's 1.5A at the tail then forget it.

Not sure but don't you go HID at that point?.

My fist is lubed up...

UP my own at this point.

I guess we will have to see beamshots of this from an owner, even @ 1.5a each that is mega. Can a poor 18650 even pull it off?

If I am wrong in this my hand is still lubed :)

For seriously driving one XM-L you need about one 18650 cell. I'd be interested if that light took 5*18650 - Well, ok, 4*18650 would be interesting, too, like in 2 rows of 2.

ill pass its a fry raY

It has often crossed my mind that a 5 emitter light with an XR-E R2 center for extreme throw and four XM-L's around it might be a terrific light. Just a thought.

Won't work out. That center XR-E would have a very small reflector and thus wouldn't give much throw.

VFM, the beam profile of 4 x XM-L and 1 x XR-E would be quite wierd too.

Driving XM-Ls optimally, ie > 2.5A per emitter, in a 75mm head = DRY kind of performance. Pocket rocket.

TK70 with 105mm head and 3 x XM-L driven optimally raises the head from 30 deg C to 45 deg C in 10 mins of run. I think this Sky Ray gives about the same performance in lumens OTF, maybe 35k cd of throw and around the same heat rise characteristic in a 75mm head, with the 5 emitters driven at 1.5A.

So in a cold country < 10 deg C with some wind, you probably can run continuously....not too bad for close to 2500 lumens OTF.

I am asking Ric to get more info from the "factory" ie specifically the tailcap readings as we all do not trust manufacturer specs. Any info is better than no info, this is not a $50 triple. Also the availability of spare drives for purchase.

Actually I was thinking of a new light not a re-work within the current head size. More like an MRV sized center with smaller XML reflectors around it. The biggest problem would be the drivers.

The lab rat would be me, will post a first impressions & current draw once I get it.

Ok, thanks! Will count on you man!

I think it needs a better driver that pulls 3A on a let's say "Turbo Mode", and then 1,5A on High, etc. That would be nice.

Problem is it won't be able to do this with 3 x 18650 safely. That means at least 5A from the cells...

Well, But there are a few high discharge rate batteries around…

If you read Manafont and forums threads here, people are already having issues with 2.5A discharge rate (and ramping up to low 3 amps). With this one it would go up to 7A. Slot in a TF/UF unprotected battery and it would surely go BAM.
