BLF Kronos X6/X5 GB - Group Buy now closed.

Wow. Alright…WOW. That is just incredible. I’m completely floored.

I HAVE to get this set now. There’s no option. I need to have TWO sets actually. LOL

When will the waitlist start getting codes?

How much time is left for the people that haven’t used their codes?

Thanks a lot for that excellent write up ToyKeeper. I really appreciate the time you took to go into so much detail.

I wish I found out about BLF sooner.

Yeah, my SS/Cu set is out of limbo, unfortunately it’s now in Chicago so it’s a few more days before I’ll see it.

I’m surprised there are no comments on picture of my AL Kronos X6 shorty.

Thanks TK.

Dale got me going down that "what to do" path last night (this morning) and disabling the thermal regulation seemed to cure it. Your explanation now helps me to understand the "why it happens".

Just to clarify, are the only thermal options in config mode 7 "off" or "calibrate" rather than toggling between "off" and "on"? I think I'm understanding it correctly?

In any case, I can't overheat it or bother with setting a calibration point ATM until I get some better cells. As you say, it probably can't overheat anyway due to the thermal mass, copper construction and relatively low capacity of 14500s. I'm not planning on leaving it unattended on Turbo - I have lights better suited to that role.

Thanks once again to everyone for the work on this GB set but a special kudos to TK/Wight for the driver and UI in this and the A6. A great example of what can be done by talented and passionate people.

Mine was just left in the mailbox.

did you even buy stocks shares gold or put your money in a bank and hoped for a return ??

I think the truth is really somewhere between your two viewpoints. Yes there will be another project just around the corner and the excitement of these lights will wane. But they’re clearly built to last, at least the hosts are, and finding solid stainless/solid copper hosts in larger sizes isn’t easy. So I can see these at least maintaining their value for a long time, even used-but-not-abused lights.

But to compare them to an investment in gold or stocks…. honestly that’s just silly. I hope you’ve got a better retirement plan than this.

Krono, Your pleasure & enjoyment probably does not come anywhere near the pleasure, excitement & enjoyment you are providing to us. Thank you very Very VERY Much.

And thank you very VERY Much to the entire Kronos team, namely Krono, TK, Dale, Jmac, Bugsy36, Neal, Pilotdog, Wight, ReManG, Sb/Sully (for BLF) , BangGood, and Manker.

Deeply Grateful,

George

I was trying to hold out… That looks cool, now I want a 14250 tube for the X5…

Thank you Sharpie, that is so well expressed. I admire your poise in writing this.

I got my Aluminum set today, incredible… Just hope these lights go stock for a while like the BLF A6/Astrolux S1

Well, I couldn’t seem to figure out how to get a larger image inserted into the post, so hopefully this method will suffice…

Okay so my number is 349
I do not have any of that number i have 330 for the copper and 334 for the stainless that was good work by BG lol if any one wants to swap let me know no rush i have to wait till i get paid to ship any ways!
I love the x6 who ever told me it isn’t much of thrower needs to get there eyes checked it easy out throws the convoy c8 and its even looking good against the BLFD80 but when saying that its not going to see the outside world much lol i think i will buy a alloy set when i get money.
still have not tried the X5 i am waiting for my 14500 to arrive!
i love this set they will get stored in some thing safe maybe i will make a perspex case for it so i can see them glowing use protected batteries so they do not run out and cause damage…

For my X6 I got #400 :)

i did not mean that. Not as an investment but he said its despicable to hope to keep value or get returns. most people who buy a car check what will be the resale value right ?? /

this lights made so solid and so easy to upgrade mod or else that you can use them for a long long time. and some see them as a collectors set and everyone who collects something is hope of appreciation not only monetary in a monetary way.

i read it as he said its despicable that so many people put their afford in this project and then some cvome and buy and hope for profit. if thats despicable never buy any stocks because thats exactly what you doing there putting money on others ideas and hope they been good.

does any know about maintenance with these lights? what can i use to oil the threads is it the same as a normal light? or will a petroleum based lube cause problems with tarnishing? seeing its not alloy oil can east away at the flashlight?

Wow I just powered up my little x5. What a beast. I can’t believe how powerful this thing is. And great throw for a little light. How does it compare to the blf a6 beam wise?

Anything that is a limited production item, especially the first of its kind, is going to increase in value. Period. If you don’t like the economics, use them and enjoy them. If you don’t like it when people make money, think about your own profit and decide where to donate.

If those two statements don’t apply to you, welcome to the club that I’m in! We like amazing things, we like to use them, we understand basic economic principles, and we understand that sometimes you choose to keep something you were fortunate enough to get at the right time and place and sometimes you choose to profit from the situation based on need or desire.

Nothing is wrong with any of the options. We all choose to proceed as we see fit, no judgement is necessary.

Completely different of each other. The A6's sheer power really lights things up but this X5 has essentially the same power factor with the updated driver so it comes down to SMO reflector and XPL-hi vs OP reflector and XPL.

Doesn't matter....you need them both ;)

Yeah that’s what I am thinking now after getting this set. My first blf GB was a huge success. Thanks everyone

I’m actually shocked and insulted by the response to my knurling issue. I’ll keep following up to get a replacement. I normally wouldn’t mention anything but am pissed by the customer service so far.

I’m assuming you mean banggood, what did they say?

Nope, that only turns it off. Technically, it sets the heat ceiling to 255. Then after going up to full power it actually measures the temperature and stores that instead. It keeps reading and storing the temperature every couple seconds as long as it stays on in that mode. So, when you turn it off, the new ceiling is whatever it last saved while it was running in unlimited turbo mode.

To set a new ceiling, you actually have to get it hot… and a 3.2V cell isn’t going to get it hot.
