Are we not capable of a little better?

Oh lol. I didnā€™t know about the open carry thing since in Singapore firearms and knives or any weapon is illegal to carry around in public. Another I noticed is that most members here are above 40 and Iā€™m here lime only turning 19 this year. Iā€™m taking my diploma now and am currently unemployed so there isnā€™t much choice for me except to save up only for a light I have a complete desire for. I hope the old timers donā€™t leave the community and continue to guide the newbs. Even tho there are some disrespectful newbies, some of us do really wanna learn and contribute to this pool of knowledge.

EDSG, I think not, I donā€™t like the concept but they didnā€™t care about my opinion. lol Scary, really, seeing little old ladies packing chromed .45ā€™s and such. Conceal it, thatā€™s fine, but why have to brag about it?

Anyway, was just trying to make the point that in-your-face rudeness used to come at a price, and can again. Society got away from people carrying guns to make the world a safer place. The safer place has been taken for granted, so I guess weā€™re sliding back down the hill.

Pressure, modern times, fast paced society.

Me? I like taking things slow and easyā€¦

19, in todays world, I donā€™t envy you that dude! lol 53 in todays world is hard enoughā€¦

Welcome to BLF everybody. I miss paisley. Remember the sixties?
Is there a 3V emitter out there that can handle a constant 7A?

To everyone at BLF, I could only say be kind to each other. I have failed at that at times, we all do. It is human nature. There's so much bad in the world right now, that it would be a wonderful thing to have just one place of asylum to go to and just have fun.

The forum has changed. It is less friendly than it once was, but most of that is due to so many members. When it was small, it was close knit. Even our admin has changed. As time goes on, people move on. Small towns tend to be friendlier, to the people living there, than big cities. Same for forums.

The Only thing that is Sure in Life, is Change and it can be good or bad, or good and bad, but it is change, like it or not.

I miss BLF, but I also realize that I had a part in taking it to a different level, never even realizing what the bad part of growing bigger could be. Helping can be hurting at the same time. You have to take the bad with the good and that is the hard part. Well, understanding it is the hard part.

The only cells that can run such an emitter are ScotchFire 10,000mAh. :stuck_out_tongue:

Sixties? Does anyone really remember the sixties? Seems to be some kind of haze on those, canā€™t wipe it offā€¦

You remind me of this video clip edit

OL there is a difference in being flat rude, obnoxious and hateful and being plain spoken. What I am speaking of is NOT the plain spoken ones on here but the others.

Well said, David.

I think it s a good opportunity to look at oneself, and figure out if what we do enables or discourages bad behavior. How we respond has much to do with that.

I try to think about applying this when responding to someone that is difficult. I donā€™t always succeed, but each situation is an opportunity to shine the light, not turn away from it

Yeah, it was a shame when BLF had that big crash in 1969. We lost all those early modding threads. Link from the mod squad was aread of his time with incandescent strobes, and Goldie Hawn made those far out mini mags with a butterfly hot spot.
ā€œSock it to meā€!

The cussing here bothers me also.

Itā€™s a flashlight forum and people are fighting over flashlights LOL

Seriously, the right to bear arms attacked and legalizing drugs brought up for zero reasonā€¦and we are supposed to wonder how threads get political and argumentative?

Shhhhh! Quiet everybody. Yoko Ono is up next.

Look over thereā€¦SQUIRREL!

True. I have lurked for a couple of years before joining. But, yes, I certainly havenā€™t read thousands of threads.

Still, from the ones I am reading, I donā€™t see much hostility. Way less than cpf, or indeed most of the Internet. No doubt there are threads where hostilities break out, but perhaps it has something to do with the topic? In any case, itā€™s easy to ignore those threads if you donā€™t want to read them.

I just donā€™t see it as a big problem, here. Not yet, anyway. Perhaps threads that break out nasty could be redirected to an off-topic area? That way, people can vent off their steam, without it clogging up the flashlight-specific areas.

Heh, okay, guilty-as-charged. I think those group buys are fantastic, though. Donā€™t get rid of them!

brad I am not defending or siding with either you or Dale. but the quote you put up is in part with an explanation that Dale was making saying that some people need to ā€œchillā€ and the marijuana may Help them to do that.

Also Dale is in no way attacking gun rights as he stated he knows all to well how easy a bad situation can get out of hand IF the right (wrong) person has a gun readily available at the time, as he said he almost had a bad situation go even worse one time

I have notice lately (again myself being guilty of it) that we focus on a part of a statement and donā€™t see the whole picture and then things start heating up and there goes what I am hoping will start settling down.

On the flip side of my statement I can see where you might be offended if you did not take the statement Dale made in the same context that I did and others may have taken it even a different way.

This is an example of how we could just not say anything at all or be a little more tactful in the way we say things though. Think it through before you bang it out on the keyboard and hit enter , and I am talking as a whole not singling you or Dale or anyone out at all.

It was a political post about guns and drugs, and Texas, with the usual inaccurate information that has been debunked and proven wrong for decades, about law abiding Americans suddenly shooting it out with each other, that naturally leads to members defending the laws of Texas.

I wonder if it would help to have more mods? Or a few more monitoring rude posts and trying to get them shut down? I donā€™t know.

This forum has been where I learned how to mod. I learned a bunch from you guys and continue to as well. Even though I donā€™t post much here, I have been reading on here for the past few years. I too, sense a downward spiral and arguing, I believe, any arguing is unnecessary. If youā€™re saying that it still is better than most forums out there and not so bad yet, does that give room to some- a little hostility? Letā€™s not make excuses for ourselves, but take what robo819 said as personal responsibility to make this a better place.

Just my thoughts.

G'Day BLF'ers,

Unfortunately, some of us seem to want to win an argument, just for the sake of winning.

It seems to be about winning a argument/debate no matter what, with no "prisoners" taken.

Best Regards,

George
