[07-MAR-2016] Current status of BLF upgrade process

Thank you so! The layout is a bit weird tho

Sb, I've got to tell you, this is just over the top fantastic. You really nailed it

Thank you!!!

Oh, and you forgot #7 SB, make me one of your moderators.

Weā€™re back! Those who have slower DNS can access BLF at the following temporary URL:
http://budgetlightforum.ddns.net

I guess I have slow DNS as I have to access BLF at the temporary URL. If the temporary URL is temporary, how would I access the site when it is removed? Thanks.

Thanks sb

Thanks for the temp URL

Is the one post a minute but able to edit thing working on the new system?

My signature seems to have not migrated properly :frowning:

Thanks sb for the effort in this marathon upgrade. The things you do for love aye.

Good to see BLF back online, looks great!

Well done and thanks

The proper URL will start working soon enough, but your DNS-servers will cache the old address for up to 24 hours, sometimes even longer. Iā€™m guessing the temporary address will be up for a couple of days at least

sb56637: Awesome work mate, I know how horribly wrong upgrades can go sometimes and itā€™s no fun at all. Thanks!

The new site seems snappier, is that temporary or because of improved inefficiencies of the new software?

The new software is more efficient, although I havenā€™t had time to optimize its caching settings or the underlying OS performance settings yet. Also weā€™re still under very light load at the moment, so that probably has something to do with it.

No, not yet. (Shhhh! Donā€™t tell the spammers!)

Yep, sorry about that. I did try long and hard to migrate the signatures, but I finally had to give up. (Actually the first 255 characters of your signature are in tact, if thatā€™s any consolation.)

Aka: Your signature was too damn long!

Well said.

Looks great! Thanks for the good work

Looking good.
I wrote ā€œitā€™s done when itā€™s doneā€ tonight but man, I am glad it is done for the most part!
THANKS!

Thanks sb

Looks like youā€™re still editing the site code. Itā€™s almost mesmerizing watching the PHP error types and line numbers change.

Oh, also looks like signatures may have been truncated to 255 characters. Iā€™m not sure what the old limit was, but apparently it was at least slightly longer than that.
