Why the recent drop in price of high quality 18650 cells?

higher quality samsung, panasonic and sony cells could recently have been purchased from 3.5-5 dollars.

has there been an increase in production due to e-vehicles or similar, or a next gen cells will be out so they are getting rid of old stock?

Maybe panasonic, sony or samsung are about to produce ryden cells with their licensed formula.

We can only hope they are starting to produce better, higher voltage and capacity cells…

Demand is increasing. Popularity is increasing. Once those things among others begin to take a real hold, production costs can and do go down sometimes. But don't tell anyone...

They’ve been out long enough that used ones are hitting the market?

That’d be my guess. You’ve got to deal with the fakes that are recycled cells pretending to be good quality cells as well as recycled good quality cells (pretending to be new good quality cells).

I think it’s because the demand has increased and they are producing them at higher scale, hence more cost-efficient production.

I don’t know why but I won’t be complaining about it!
