[07-MAR-2016] Current status of BLF upgrade process

Hmm, I haven’t seen this yet. What browser and OS are you on?

Could you give me a few links for this issue? Thanks!

Earlier today my mouseover signature had a strange link, so I tried to fix it, and now the mouseover is gone.

I looked in this thread and found just one mouseover:

https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/38105/145

If I see any other mouseovers with strange links, I'll post a link in this thread. ;)

EDIT: I wouldn't be surprised if the strange links are only in mouseovers created in the last week.

The problem occurs for me in Chrome and Windows 7.

My other PC running Chrome and Windows 8.1 works fine.

I guess you could try to log out of BLF, delete all cookies related to budgetlightforum.com, and log back in again. Can’t hurt anyway.

Okay.

I’ll try later today.

BTW, can you check your PM? I had a question for you.

Hang me for this, its ok… Theres quite some functionality just taken away in this release and stuff that just does not work. I appreciate your effort SB, but my honest opinion is that I prefer the previous version. I must admit, Im not sure why this release was pushed, might be good reason though.

They are discontinuing security updates for the old version. Meaning if you tried to stay on the old version it would become vulnerable to hacking. Sb put off updating as long as he could.

I have noticed, that with some frequency when clicking a post and having it open in a new tab that the page will not load. I never had this problem with the old server. I am running Firefox and Chrome on Windows 7 with multiple machines and have seen the behavior on multiple machines as well as Android. I have also seen this across multiple network providers.

It could be a bandwidth problem or a problem with the initial page request or part of the initial handshake being eaten somewhere.

SB:

My error.

I habitually click on the “new” replies to pick up the discussion where I last left it.

Well, on a brand new discussion thread, clicking on the “new” starts off on post #2.

I need to break this habit. (That should be easy enough, since I’ll be immediately reminded of my mistake by having to scroll up to see the OP.)

Funny, I never had this problem on the old website. I guess it was smarter than me!

Sorry for troubling you!

Actually the “X new” link should take you directly to the first new post number, not necessarily to post #2. This feature actually seems to work well (for you guys at least, unfortunately there’s a major bug for me with my admin privileges :frowning: ), which is one of the few major advantages of this upgrade.

Yeah, I won’t disagree with you on this. But it was unfortunately necessary, because it’s absolutely imperative to be using software with security updates. These complex forum engines always have bugs, and if the developers don’t look for and fix them the bad guys will find them and exploit them. So I really didn’t have any choice but to upgrade.

Hmm this doesn’t sound good. Anybody else seen the same thing?

I have. It happens to me several times a day, but I skim every new post on the forum. I just reload the page that won't load, and the problem is gone. ;)

By the way, I use Chrome on Windows 7 and Windows 8.

Ok, thanks. And is this when loading single tabs or multiple tabs at once and/or quick succession?

I usually load at least a few tabs, in quick succession, at a time.

OK I made an adjustment that I hope will improve or eliminate the issue with hanging tabs opened in quick succession. I’d appreciate your experiences.

Thanks for your effort SB…

With all the beautifull BLF special flashlights….
Can’t anybody who has them take a picture with a white background to replace the current pic?
I mean, de Kronos set would look better then the now widely despised SRK that is shown right?

Funny, those lights were specifically chosen recently by members of BLF to be put up on the page, replacing what was there before. That SRK is one TK owns and modded a while back. And the light on the left is the original BLF X6-SE, from the first GB with Eagle Eye. The light on the right is simply a SK-68 zoomie.

-Edit: Here is the relevant thread.

Edit again: OOPS! Wrong one! Here!
