FS : LED centering rings / positioning / insulating – made to your specs (CLOSED)

What about a higher temperature filament, such as nylon? I know my printer can reach the +235°C temps required to print with the material. Does the LED reach temperatures this high?

I think that would work. If want to give it a try I would be glad to bench test a few at high amperage to see if they can be melted.

Do it! I’m sure you could sell plenty, once vestureofblood finishes testing to confirm viability.

Sorry yall! I took a break from flashlight work for a while because I was too busy but THIS SALE IS BACK ON. Please re-submit a purchase request if you had previously proposed a size and still want it. All old requests are still in the original post.

These will now be made from black acetal instead of white nylon.
Simple washers and spacers are now $1 each; centering rings are still $2 each.

Added Kenjii’s XM to XP adapters [post #58] to the new queue.

UPDATE:
These are pretty tricky to machine. The prototype is a little loose on the 219C; I will tighten the spacer pocket by up to .002” per side. I need add a deburring cycle to the program as well.

i would like similar ,BUT for XP-G2 led.

Circular pockets seem to be all the rage these days to avoid the dreaded centering ring dedome. On these larger gaskets this is an option. Which would you prefer nofearek9? Round or square?

Round pockets will also alleviate the solder bead interference problem.

i am going to use dedomed led so i guess round.send me paypal , will order 2 pieces ,worldwide shipping, thanks.

I knocked those out this morning Nofearek9. They came out nice on the first try. I will PM you payment info.

This is it for this weekend. I’ll be doing another run of centering rings around next weekend so jump into the queue if you’d like some.

I’d like to try these:

2 x XM to XP

2 x Convoy S2+ XP

2 x Convoy C8 XP

Thanks!

@Nofearek9: If you need me to add slots or some other provision like a back side pocket to allow clearance for the wires on those centering rings let me know, I can do that. Not sure what your plan is. Hammer some solid core copper wire flat and you’ve got yourself a handy flat lead.

@MG: Sounds good. I’ll get the Convoy rings modeled up with round center holes and added to the queue. Let me know if you’d prefer a square center hole.

Wow Hoop, impressive!

Hoop those are really nice ,i am going to use a Noctigon XP32 so i will not have problem with wires etc, thanks.

Round sounds like a winner. Thanks!

As long as you can keep the tolerances good, round is OK, but at least with the plastic spacers it seems like the round ones have a much wider tolerance range, which often makes them end up loose.

I suppose that round holes alleviate the need to add pockets for the excess solder relief.

Ok, managed to squeeze in some more machine time for these. They came out nice though the picture doesn’t look that great. My process is getting better. I’ll shoot you fellas a PM.

Wow Hoop, very impressive. What size tool are you using?

I’m using 3/16” down to .020” end mills, so far.

I should add copperclad circuit boards to this thread. (contact plates, etc) I already have a bunch of 1/16” thick 4oz double sided board material. Some 1/32” 1oz double-clad as well.

Do you mean are turning down the actual sinkpads? If so, is it possible to get a couple? I’ve not been as successful at avoiding shorts and even when I get it working, I don’t trust led+ trace a knife blade away from shorting out.

They are sold through Mtn but it looks like they might be out of stock. I don’t have any of the stars at the moment.
