Home Depot Deal Alerts & Discussion Thread

Hey poiihy,

I’m glad that I happened to read your Home Depot Bargain shopping Thread, so I can tell you about Ridgid Tools my Friend… I had been buying Dewalt Battery powered Drills for years, and every time the Battery or Charger would die, I would Buy a new Drill set.
Then in 2008 when I was in Home Depot buying some parts for a project I was working on, I saw an Advertisement on a Big Sign at the Contractors Counter that said ” Ridgid Tools Covered by a Unconditional Lifetime Warranty” against anything and also Covered Batteries! Of course I thought this has Got to be a Really Slick Marketing Ploy to get Customers to buy their tools, because RIDGID TOOLS ONLY made the BEST of Tools for Every Trade that I knew of, but now Home Depot Owns them too (They had just Bought Train Corperation) “The Air-Conditioning Manufacturer ” and I was Really Sceptical about the Deal! :( >:/ >:-/
Long Story short, I bought a New RIDGID TOOL Kit in October of 2008, I did go online as instructed and Registered for the Lifetime Warranty. The kit that I originally Bought had a Defective Battery Charger and I found that out after about 4 weeks, and I had already Registered the tools in the kit online. Everything about RIDGID TOOLS & their Lifetime warranty was still Brand New, there was One Service Center in Nashville that was a RIDGID TOOL Service Company. I took my Charger and Batteries to them and they were STILL unpacking Boxes and Moving into the Bldg. I told them why I was there, they looked up my profile on the Ridgid Tool website and Handed me 2 New Batteries and 1 New Charger. I walked out the door Amazed at how Simple it was and I have been Using Ridgid Tools ever since then, and I have acquired Many More of their Tools over the years! :D :)
Because if you don’t have to replace a Drill, Charger or Batteries every year or Two, you can afford to buy any other type of tool you want or Need, because Everything is Covered FREE for Life! $-)
But, You Have to Buy the Kits or Tools From a Home Depot Store!!! If you Buy anything off of eBay, Craigslist, or a yard Sale, it will Not be Covered for Life, or at all! You may get Lucky and get a 3 year Warranty, but it’s not worth it at all!

I noticed that my Batteries weren’t lasting as Long as they use too, so I took all 5 and Both Chargers to the Service Center and walked out with 1 New Charger & Batteries on order that will be Delivered to the Store by Friday, and I will be there to pick them up and my other Charger by Noon! The Best part of the entire thing, is that it is FREE!!!
I Will have to Get online after I Pick up the New Parts, and Type in the New Model Numbers and Serial Numbers for each battery, Charger or any other tool that I may have to Exchange, in my online Account on their Website. I will Remove all of the Old Model Numbers and Serial Numbers from my account so it will show Only the Correct Items that I Own, so I can Stay on the LSA. Or Lifetime Service Agreement and Keep All of my Tools Covered for the rest of my Life, and That my Friend’s is a Deal that You Do Not Find anywhere these days!!! :sunglasses:

Do yourself a Favor and Give yourself an early Birthday Present if your 18 Volt Battery is Dead on your (Insert Name Here) Drill, Leaf Blower or Electric Power tool they are Covered TOO… Save yourself some cash for Buying Flashlights and Important things like that, and Buy a RIDGID TOOL for anything that needs to be replaced that you use to keep the House Running and the Honey Do List Caught t to Date! She will Like you that much more when you never have to buy another $99.00 Battery (If you Buy it on Father’s Day weekend)? Not going to mention any names, but they are Yellow & Black.

Do yourself a Favor and when they Run a Multi Tool Kit on SALE, but yourself one! You will Never regret it, and you will Never Look back. I Guarantee it, that’s what Happened to me…

With the rigid “lifetime warranty” issue - I remember reading something negative (or at least a “catch”) and I think it was that you had to personally deliver and exchange the defective product, which is fine if you live close enough to one of these “warranty centers”. Swear I read this explained on BLF too (could even be buried in this thread).

that’s a good deal on the $3 2-pack bulbs… lowest I’ve seen was 2.17
per bulb at walmart

Thx tooreal. ! Great info !!
Can you exchange at Home Depot. ??

Wow thank you; nice to hear a success story with this. I’ve seen some negative stories as well as positive stories so it might be a little tricky to get the LSA and some people might not be lucky enough.
Next time we need a tool, I’ll take a look at RIDGID.

Here’s the negative story that I read: http://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-Fuego-10-Amp-Orbital-Reciprocating-Saw-R30022/202562215 Scroll down into the reviews to the review titled “Terrible Service for Reasonably Good Machines”.
So, it looks like, to get the LSA, you may need to go through some hickery dickery to get it, but it shouldn’t be impossible. If they make it difficult for you then a good tactic is to say “The only reason I bought this tool was because of the LSA, but if I cannot get the LSA as advertised, then I have no reason to buy RIDGID and I will return this tool and buy someone else’s tool.” (or something like that)

According to what they say, you can

A few years ago Ridgid got a bad rep for the battery packs in their tools. Back then they were using Chinese cells. Of course that led to problems. I have opened a lot of the Ridgid battery packs from the recycle bins, and yes the early ones had the Chinese cells. I posted about it here.

I believe that in order to gain back the trust of those in the Trades they had to go an extra step and offer “Lifetime” guarantees going forward.

For everyone’s amusement I will repost this video of a disgruntled customer.

Aren’t most cells made in China anyway? You mean generic counterfeit cells that are dodgy and have a much lower capacity than advertised?

HAHAHA that guy is pissed

Ridgid seems to be using nothing but Samsung cells now that they offer the guarentee.

Never had a problem with the new Samsung, they perform very well.

I found some more deals at HD
Here is a 40 piece Dewalt drill bit and driver set for $3.82

Trouble is, the rack is a string of 30 piece sets, not the 40 piece which is on clearance.

That didn’t discourage me though, all I had to do is search the store for any stray 40 bit sets. I found 3 sets mixed in with others elsewhere in the store.

Some other deals that I saw.
This one had a price of $5.02

2 versions of the Defiant ArmourMax 3D for $15. Last years model (XM-L) on the left and this years model (XM-L2) on right

I grabbed all 3 of these….

I was too late on this one, 22 piece Dewault MAXFIT screwdriver set. :frowning:

Wow, I’d get a few skeletools for that price!

i love to read this thread and dream about all the good deals i missed.
i call this the dream thread

Finds of the day as parrot would say…

Deep in a shelf in a clearance thing at one Home Depot I found the following:
Two 100’ rolls of “Eco-lock™” 3/4” HDPE irrigation pipe for $5.83 each (originally $23)!!
and one roll of “Eco-lock™” 1/2” irrigation pipe for $0.01!!! YAY! The first penny deal that I found myself!! I almost lost it though but they let us have it!
I think Home Depot is discontinuing the Orbit Eco-Lock™stuff; I’ve seen lots of Eco-Lock™ stuff discounted and I’ve not seen them on the shelves. Though this is good as Orbit Eco-Lock™ was crap (just like most of Orbit’s other stuff).

Also at other Home Depots I found a Lithonia light fixture for $15.03 from $59.97, and some of those $0.01 cups!
Those 1¢ cups were right there on the top shelf of the cardboard cup display thing right near the front entrance. And probably nobody around had any idea! haha
I also found many other good deals (50% off or more were frequent) but didn’t bother with them, but it seems like ’tis the season to find deals. Also fluorescent fixtures are being discounted so take a look at the fluorescent fixtures!

Also can’t believe I haven’t though about posting this;
Mice traps; 5 pack, 52¢ I think
Picture; I used one and threw away the top

I’d kill something to find three skeletools for $7 each. I doubt any are left, but I’ll check my two HD’s tomorrow.

Well nevermind the $15 light fixture; In the box I found that the fixture was bent and the fluorescent tube was broken. It looks like the box was squished! :-((

return for refund :blush:

I’d kill to get the HD’s here to have this stuff as regularly as these guys find it. I just wasted 1 1/4 hours going across town to look at yet another HD, and once again not one single item shown here at any of them. Occasionally the odd item will turn up for me 1-2 weeks after it shows up here but that don’t happen often.

Good for those who can get the deals

I agree, things just don’t work like this in Canada, though thats probably a good thing, nothing gets to the dumpster, they drop the price and it gets bought, usually 20-40, on a rare occasion sometimes by 80-90 and it definitely gets bought.

When ImA4Wheelr started this Home Depot thread there was an inventory checker that made life easy. It is no longer available, I just found these 2 links, maybe they will be able to help us out.
