Convoy L6... XHP70 Beast!

J-Dub74
Hello!
Please answer me: Simon will be produce 3000K version of L6?

Dear Sir. I think it will take more time to answer this.

Thanks tarver. Yes, that sums up about all I can say on the matter at this time. Simon was working with the Cree representative to try and find more tint options. I can’t promise 3000K but Simon is doing his best to bring more options to the table than the average XHP70 light. Most are simply cool white and I understand it’s not easy to find a lot of variety in this particular emitter but I did ask that he try to find something at least in the neutral range. I’ll check with him to see if any progress has been made on that front.

I’d love to see Simon acquire the 96 CRI XHP-70, it’s a beautiful output and would really be sweet in his creation.

I just took a look at CREE’s data sheet and it looks like they have a 5000K 90 CRI min option (I guess this is 96 Typical?).

I got mine from Cutter in Australia, they did a Spectrum Analysis and say it does 96CRI, not sure which of Cree’s listing this is, but it definitely makes a nice light! I have it in my Olight SR-90 Intimidator with an Illuminations Machines Lum 5-90 reflector.

Please tell me the exact Cree model/bin/tint he should be lookinging for and I will see if Simon can get it. Sounds impressive.

This is the one I got from Cutter, XHP70-20-40E3-90

The description on the main page states

Cutter-XHP70-20-40E3-90
20mm DTP Alum Star, Colour Bin: 3A 5000K, Flux Code: K4, Stock bin Spectral Tested 96CRI

That sounds impressive. Can that be translated into simply a stock Cree emitter model? Simon will be dealing directly with Cree to aquire the emitters. The one you linked seems more like a Cutter branded specialty product. Also seems odd they would choose an aluminum star over copper. Simon planned to put all the XHP70 on copper.

I just found the one they said was 96CRI in they’re testing, didn’t figure the link would matter on the star as it’d be highly unlikely Simon would buy from Cutter, right?

No he won’t be buying from Cutter. The specs you listed sound like an excellent neutral option. I’m just trying to translate it into something I can tell Simon to ask his Cree rep in Hong Kong about. Should I tell him to look for XHP70 3A K4? Mention it has a high CRI and temp of 5000K?

I’ve been look through Cree data sheets and at first the only XHP70 I could find listed with any of the higher CRI ratings including 90+ is the Warm White 2600K-3700K. That was following the link from Cutter to the Cree site. Digging further down the rabbit hole I eventually found the XHP70 chart with Flux Characteristics, ANSI White Order Codes and Bins.
If anyone wants a look that is here XHP70 chart
I think within there I can found the one Dale is referring to. Specifically it looks like for 5000K with 90+ CRI the order number would be XHP70A-00-0000-0D0UK40E3.

Edit I think some of those zeros in the middle may need to be filled in with the proper characters. Once again I’m a little lost… :-/

Those zero’s and proprietary inside codes are what make getting the exact bin and tint a tooth pulling experience. Good luck!

You’re not kidding. My head was spinning after looking through several pages of charts and codes and bins and ordering number formats. I passed along what I could to Simon while trying not to overcomplicate things too much. Thanks… I think. :stuck_out_tongue:

Simon’s Cree affiliate should know all this. Shouldn’t be all that difficult to acquire the correct emitter IF the contact at Cree is worth his salt.

Yes. The Cree affilate should be able to interpret Cree’s LED articles into something intelligible and back.

The release of the Thorfire S70 couldn’t have helped.

Can tell me someone information about waterproof grade of future flashlight?
And may be someone know concrete information about release date?
One week before today Simon has said me that release will be after 1-2 weeks. So i’m waiting for april
