New Astrolux (E01) XP-L 18350 light

I am in for a light IF a separate tube is available

it will be

Interesting. Keen to know about how the switch works or rather how resilient it is to accidental activation. What about a clip? Couldn’t see one in the pics.

Goodlooking! If the BLF-A6 driver indeed is used, the side switch must be a clicky, of good quality (because it carries all current). Looks like a fine host for a triple too

I like the developement: Astrolux making new flashlight designs in a good price class, with that nice and familiar driver.

no pocket clip?

Interested in the E02. But what are the dimensions?

Ahhh - these E01 and E02 models are indeed an oddity. Of course they can do a side power switch - I got a couple of lights like that, but the ones I have and seen are cheap lights, so the quality of the switch suffers and has lots of loss’s from the high resistance of the switch mechanism. Plus these switch’s usually eat up a good chunk of space, so the body is longer than need be.

It’s probably the overall length of a S2+ shorty, which is also rather long because of the chunky tail power switch. They would have to be long, longer than could be done with a true e-switch, but that’s the compromise. e-switch lights can be made more compact and no worries about resistance in a mechanical switch — two big reasons why I favor e-switch lights, plus the ability to do a more user friendly UI with advanced features.

0.1LM,250LM
That’s a big step.

Yeah. Ridiculous

Hey Martin, can you ask Neal @ Banggood for a fair groupbuy price for us!? O:-)

So, is it a side clicky switch or an e-switch ?
Also, The step between low and med modes is huge, a was said previously !
I could be intersted by the E02 if the modes are better spaced

Perhaps the description of the driver stepping is wrong on their website!!?

From how it looks I say e-switch.

The mentioned BLF-A6 driver suggests clicky, and they mention clicky too.

Or they adapted the BLF-A6 to e-switch… (driver group buy, I’m in!)

Or ‘BLF-A6 driver’ is wrong

They do claim clicky, and since the BLF A6 driver is clicky only, it makes perfect sense that they used a clicky in this light. I doubt seriously that they’d modify the driver to use e-switch or use a e-switch driver, yet claim to use the BLF A6 driver and clicky switch on the listing.

neal will send samples so we will know before the groupbuy closes

It’s probably a clicky design working on the Batt+ side. Again I reiterate — not the best way to go for several reasons. Quality components and simple design is the key, and I’ve only seen awful quality in these type of clicky lights and extra hardware - cheap switch, extra thin wire springs or contacts, etc. Think’n they may be having issues with this design - unrestricted FET driver combined with this type of switch is usually not a good combo. Maybe/hopefully it will be safe/ok, but unable to achieve high amps without modding.

I’ll be in for a group buy for both models. Possibly 2 of each
