New Astrolux (E01) XP-L 18350 light

Yeah. Ridiculous

Hey Martin, can you ask Neal @ Banggood for a fair groupbuy price for us!? O:-)

So, is it a side clicky switch or an e-switch ?
Also, The step between low and med modes is huge, a was said previously !
I could be intersted by the E02 if the modes are better spaced

Perhaps the description of the driver stepping is wrong on their website!!?

From how it looks I say e-switch.

The mentioned BLF-A6 driver suggests clicky, and they mention clicky too.

Or they adapted the BLF-A6 to e-switch… (driver group buy, I’m in!)

Or ‘BLF-A6 driver’ is wrong

They do claim clicky, and since the BLF A6 driver is clicky only, it makes perfect sense that they used a clicky in this light. I doubt seriously that they’d modify the driver to use e-switch or use a e-switch driver, yet claim to use the BLF A6 driver and clicky switch on the listing.

neal will send samples so we will know before the groupbuy closes

It’s probably a clicky design working on the Batt+ side. Again I reiterate — not the best way to go for several reasons. Quality components and simple design is the key, and I’ve only seen awful quality in these type of clicky lights and extra hardware - cheap switch, extra thin wire springs or contacts, etc. Think’n they may be having issues with this design - unrestricted FET driver combined with this type of switch is usually not a good combo. Maybe/hopefully it will be safe/ok, but unable to achieve high amps without modding.

I’ll be in for a group buy for both models. Possibly 2 of each

Ok, so it's a true e-switch. Guess they are stumped why the BLF A6 firmware won't work... The switch looks exactly like an Eagle Eye X5's e-switch.

Hi,

the samples came in this morning. There is definitely not the BLF A6 driver inside. 4 normal Modes with a huge step from Moon to Low, Doubleklick activates Strobe, Bike Strobe (?) and Beacon. Single Click from off switches the light on to Moon and changes mode. Long press from off activates the last used mode (memory), long press from on switches the light off. I did not find a Config Menu or Battery indicator. The light feels good in the hand, pretty comfortable. I measured via ceiling bounce in comparison to a Skyray King (2000 Lumens) 896 Lumens for the E01 and 904 Lumens for the E02.

I contacted Neal for further info on the used driver. I guess it is a 3A driver.

Regards

Kenjii

Thanks !

What about battery fit? Do protected batteries fit length and width wise ?

Can you get the driver out? Does the bezel unscrew? Appears to be threaded — really, really hope it’s not glued. I don’t see a retaining ring on the driver, which doesn’t look good to me - might be glued in like an SRK. That DL044 on the driver sounds familiar, hhhmmm…. Can’t recall where I saw it.

Ohh - can you take body length measurements? It’s been a mystery - they never posted dimensions. Based on the size of the clips, it looks fairly short, which is good.

That’s not the advertised driver at all !
And that step from Moon to Low was to be expected but will be annoying for sure…I’m not in anymore :-x

And the dimension?

Thanks for the info sofar. Of course I would like to know some modding details: can the emitter be reached, is the driver 17mm?

Kenjii - no rush, we can wait. Well, maybe a couple of nanoseconds... Thanks for the info so far! BG is really disappointing on providing correct or useful info on these.
