why not use humane traps, and release the poor mice out in the woods where they can try to live, and get into the food chain ??

excuse is not believable. use humane traps. release out in woods.

Because its a pest vermin. Thats why. Also because if you RELEASE IT? its just coming back in again and again anyways. Like a freaking merry go round.

Myself? I have a better mousetrap… its commonly referred to as a “C-A-T”, ha ha. have you ever SEEN what a cat DOES when it catches a mousie? Jesus, it plays with it, it tortures it, then it eats it alive. The mouse is better off getting caught in a trap than by a cat, really.

I will terminate, with extreme prejudice? PEST VERMIN that enter my house and will not vacate. I kill mice, rats, raccoons and possums if they enter the house.

i catch and release snakes and bats, i like them, i dont feel they cause any harm inside the house, so, i do not terminate them with extreme prejudice.

Say that after you are the one that has to routinely repair the damage done by the little guys. They are incredibly bad for a house. They chew through wiring, they defecate everywhere you really don’t want them to, ruin insulation, so on and so on.

Unfortunately, they breed like crazy so if you can’t stomach killing them you’re going to be dealing with them forever.

If you choose to deny reality thats your problem, not mine.
I wanted to catch and release but failed, if you can then the next time i have a mouse your welcome to come to my house and remove it.

This isn’t quite a “Home Depot Deal”, but maybe if you used an orange 5 gallon bucket you got on sale….

This allows you to catch many mice, not just one per trap.

Tarver, I would like to introduce you to a few Grizzly bears which that technique was tried on, but after they returned and wreaked havoc again the proper solution was implemented and I don’t know where those carcasses went to >-)

Mice and rats are fast-breeding disease-carrying vermin. They are so prevalent that they will not ever be made extinct through human trapping. They are adapted to urban environments and if you dump them in a forest somewhere the odds are that they will starve to death or quickly become predator food, dying anyway. You don’t solve a problem by moving it around.

I was just going to suggest taking a look at that one Mr.Scott. I wanted to try it sometime, but for now poison does the trick pretty well.

I think we’ve went off on a bit of a tangent though lol.

I haven’t bothered checking my local store. The employees there seem to be all over the good deals.

Yeah we have some of those rat traps because usually we have rats, not mice.
I was thinking of doing something similar to improve the trap; I had an idea to file the bar into like a blade and maybe serrate it so that the trap will really hurt the mouse so that it won’t go anywhere.
Edit: woah how did a whole bunch of other messages appear between this and the message I was replying too

That reminds me of Matthias Wandel’s mouse trap. This is funny.

Yes you should save the poor little mousies

They don’t deserve to die!

I’ve had to clean up much worse. Lets just say if my local mice had Hanta virus i would be be dead by now.

Not all cats will pwn a mouse… some cats might be scared of mice but I think many or most house cats will just look and sniff it but not care about it. A better option may be a terrier dog.

I prefer these species of mice:

I would mind an infestation of these. At least they’re clean.

Yesterday we got so caught up in mice that I forgot to mention something I saw at Home Depot…
Remember the 16 gal wet vac for $40 last christmas? I saw them again! Except this time they were discounted to $37.00 from $39.97 or whatever.

Mouse trap works #2

So so far, the mouse traps have been 50% effective at holding mice in (if you count by the attempts) or 66% effective (if you could by the mice). The first mouse was successfully caught, though it was holding on the corner and it might have escaped if I didn’t take it out sooner; the second mouse escaped twice (I think, or maybe they were different mice); the third mouse successfully trapped well.

You have well nourished mice :open_mouth:

My more expensive traps have been effective maybe 75% of the time, i don’t think the 100% mouse trap exists yet or at least i don’t know if one, but still a few misses were caught by rebaiting.

Sorry to go off topic, but………

Remember poiiy mentioned that there were a lot of florescent lights on sale at the “3” price. That meant that they were priced at about 75% off. It also meant that the next stop would be marked to a penny and pulled from the shelves. In my stores there must have been 20 or 30 different florescent light fixtures marked down 75%. Here are a couple of examples that I shot as I thought they were interesting

And this one with a special shield and cold start capabilities.

Up until yesterday there were lights at the “3” price all over the store.
Yesterday they all suddenly dissappeared!
To me that meant they were all marked to a penny and pulled from the shelves. :-((
But wait, I did come across these fixtures at the clearance section.j There they were, 5 boxes of 24” closet fixtures with an included T8 bulb.

They missed pulling these
I was sooooo sure they would ring up for a penny that I grabbed one and went up to the self checkout. Instead of checking for price, I checked out. Was I surprised when it rang up for $6.33!, Oh well.
This morning I realized that I could actually use this fixture at a rental and I installed it. Nice light.
Before I threw the box out, I cut the UPC bar code off and stuck it in my wallet.

This afternoon I found myself at my Home Depot once more and instead of walking in the entrance I came in thru the exit next to the self checkouts. As I passed, I reached in my wallet at scanned the UPC code I had cut out. It scanned for a penny. Just yesterday I bought 1 and paid $6.33, If they were still there I could now get them for a penny!
As luck would have it, they were, and I did
What a difference a day makes.

Here is a tool I use to print UPC bar codes for this purpose. Just go to this link and type in the UPC code numbers and it will generate a graphic of the bar code which you can then save and print out. Good for checking prices of know items that you want to keep an eye on.

http://generator.barcoding.com/

Here are 3 bar codes I printed out with this site. Just type the numbers at the bottom of each and generate this picture.

The top one is the bar code for the twin AA and AAA Maglite Pro combo. The current clearance price is $20 for the 2, but that one HD I was at discounted them further to $10. Other stores will probably do the same in the future.
The second one is the Defiant 3D Max and is currently reduced to $15, down from $29.95
The last one is a plumbing tool and pouch set that I saw on a clearance table with no price. I got the numbers from a photo I took of it and used those numbers to print this out. Later I scanned it and found out it was priced at $14.98. Doesn’t sound like a clearance price.

You can return one of them and get your $6.33 back

LOL, I didn’t even think of that!

I do have a separate receipt for that one I “over paid” for.
Thank you very much.

And here I was cost averaging them in my head at 5 units for $6.33 plus 0.04 or about $1.27 each.

LOL! <:-)
I’ve done it a few times over the years, spark plugs at half price the following week, $75 off a dehumidifier, $45 off a window A/C things like that
