A friend of mine wanted to have his little bike light repaired. Here in Holland we have those tiny 2xCR2032 5mm led bike lights that are strapped around the handle bars. His one went dead and it appeared just a bended battery contact. Bended it back and it works fine again.
Modified a KRONOS BLF Limited Edition Aluminum X5 into a Quad Nichia 219C, 2960.1 lumens out the front on Turbo, 0.24 lumens in moon.
I used a 1 1/2” dia 6061 bar stock to re-create the reflector into a heat sink for the quad mcpcb. On this one, I even threaded it so it screws in just like the OEM reflector does. Replicated the ramped shelf up top for the o-ring to maintain water proof specs as well. Very little difference in weight, a LOT of difference in output! The Bistro UI still works fine, so it has the police strobe and bicycle strobe in the hidden group. I used larger ga wires throughout, 20ga Turnigy including spring bypasses top and bottom.
Love it when a little light kicks butt! The AA size Efest purple IMR14500 is a really capable little cell, for sure.
A very nice quad you made! That threaded dedicated heatsink should be made for sale somehow! (but adapted to the thickness of the new Cutter quad board because Dsche’s copper quad boards are not available anymore)
I put together my first triple
Blue S2+, illuminated tailcap (blue), BLF A6 driver, homemade copper spacer, triple Nichia 219C on Noctigon and Carclo 10507 optic. Both springs bypassed.
Incredibly bright, even with a Samsung 26H (tested at 5A max current on CPF).
I didn’t measured the tailcap current, my ammeter is not reliable at high currents.
Thank you, I made it with some 3mm LEDs (dremelled down ), and standard resistors. It’s a tight fit and had to try many differents values to find the compromise between good illumination and working modes (backward/forward is tricky when you add some resistors…)
Tried to upgrade the heat colored C8
Had LB led, no memory 5 mode driver
Warnted to use the AK47 driver with low cell protection 2 modegroups and a nice tinted XML.
Made a mistake and did not replace the wires banggood delivered the driver with.
So when cutting the wires to a better size after pressing it in the pill the red one came out.
No tools to push it out, it is very tight. Fear I need to use a nail and break the driver, then all I have is a A6 BLF fet driver.
So put it away and for easter we are going to paint some eggs.
