Tesla Model 3 - are you buying?

Drove the P85 before they had the SW update. It is a very nice car even though the interior material wasn’t up to the Daimler/BMW/Porsche quality standard.
Having all the torque right from the beginning (no combustion engine to rev up) and a lot less servicing/work down the road is an amazing side effect, however the supercharger network is not really available where I live and I don’t plan on having my own charger installed at home.

The Model 3 is clearly at a great price point. I might buy one after seeing it in person/test-driving it first.

As if there is a point to half of the design elements they put on cars? Mine is getting a spoiler by the way.

~ edit ~
Boy, their Model S spoiler is ugly
Guess it has to be an aftermarket spoiler for me.

The thing I worry about is that the tax credits will run out for tesla, before they can even get through all the model 3 reservations (since many have been used up by the model S). The chevy bolt won’t have that problem.

That might push more people toward the bolt instead.

Wow o-60 in less than 6 seconds and 215 mile range… That’s all the specs I need to want one. Plus it doesn’t look like a turd. (chevy volt, bolt, etc.)

I often see Tesla’s about on the roads where I am. I work in Oxford (the original UK Oxford… ).

I like the idea and design of the Tesla cars. But they are a high end expensive toy for the most part. The reality is, if you can afford one, then fuel cost matter not.

And I suspect the reality is, as a used purchase a Tesla will be no good at all. We all know phone and laptop batteries are rubbish after a few years. A Tesla won’t be any different.

These electric car’s irritate me when the elctricity they consume is generated at power station’s run on fossil fuels. Not quite so bad when Nuclear power is used by you still need to store the waste.

Not to mention the extra energy and resources needed to produce the component’s including the batteries. How long do the batteries last and when do they have to be replaced, disposal of the old one’s?

With all of the vehicle’s on the congested road’s we need regenerative power, the solution to manage more traffic in the UK is to install traffic light’s everywhere in urban area’s. It’s constant stop and start, all of the energy wasted when you apply the brakes!

Anyway, you lot in the US need to get rid of your huge V8’s!

haha My brother has one .

Fossil fuel power plants that generate electricity are better ecologically than burning gasoline at the point of use. Lithium ion batteries are recyclable.

The widespread use of electric vehicles is said to require some upgrades to the electrical grids though, but this is long overdue in the states anyway.

Naysayers don’t want progress so facts will never convince them. Hence i won’t post about why electric cars are superior to gas and the amazing crash in solar panel prices.

this is the first electric car that interests me, although I probably wont be buying another car for quite some time. My 2011 corolla S is paid off and has ~85k on it…. shooting for 250k minimum

I just want the battery pack so I can pull the cells

I’d buy it today if it were available here.

Tesla needs to offer these seats!
Especially for the Model S with ludicrous mode (0-60 in 2.8sec).

NOPE!

Oh you’ll need it if you try ludicrous mode on a curve!

^ The effects of suddenly stopping was rather anti-climactic. :sushi:

$5000 upgrade if you have a P85D Model S. No spaceship needed.

Not at all, i’m gonna build my own then mod it!

I wonder how many collective 18650 cells BLFers have, we could build our own Model 3/S and drive like maniacs.

7,104 18650 cells in the 85 kWh battery pack.
With the way some BLFers like to overdrive things, flooring the accelerator in ludicrous mode will have a 50/50 chance of instant detonation  “rapid disassembly”.
