Q8, PMS SEND TO THOSE WITH ISSUES BLF soda can light

Nice initiative! But if the idea is going to be a new design by a manufacturer, I see a thousand good reasons to have a good conversation with kronological about it, to avoid the many pitfalls.

I like the idea of Thorfire making it more than a deal with Fasttech. I think I remember that attempts of group buys with discount never worked with Fasttech.

If it is designed from scratch, a version can be made with a 4mm shelf that is continuous with the body, and separate ledboards screwed on top of it, that would be very versatile, and good for the heat path! The driver could simply be the Kronos X5/X6 driver expanded to the SRK-size board. A (elegant) handle would be a great extra!

Depending on how it turns out, I’m in

Nice idea.

Wouldn’t it better with a copper shelf instead of brass?

PM send to Toykeeper
PM send to Thorfire

And yes agree let’s make the shelf an integral part of the housing and 4mm thick

How about the famous PD68 tailcap?

The Supfire M6 and Roche M170 both have an integrated shelf, the former being around the same price as you propose.

Yeah I’m in

Great idea, always wanted a good SRK. However I would go with an electronic switch version and forget the lighted tailcap.

I’m interested. I’m short on funds, so can’t commit to anything yet, but I like it. One thing I’d like to suggest, though. I know a lot of people like tail clicky for lockout, but I’d rather see lockout through the UI with the side e-switch. It works well on the Olight S20-L2, IMHO. And it will cut down on the major design changes that need to be done to the light.

yes, hence the reason for aiming at that pricepoint. if they can do it so can we
An integrated shelf is also a nice cost reductor compared to copper or brass screwins.

And as far as group buys, yes it is my first, however I do have some experience with dealing with Azian companies.
This is my idea and basic design,

Asus was not keen om making it, but I was sure this would be a great idea.

Hi The Miller,

If you keep the interest list in the second post, every single update of the list will generate update-mails to thread-subsribers and the updated-button in the recent posts page will direct to that 2nd post every time, instead of the really new posts.

Updates to the OP will not do that, so it is better to keep the list there.

cool, thanks!

Zou je in het team voor dit project willen? (MAW wat meer PMs ontvangen dan normaal)

Well the Supfire M6 for 40 USD is just the basic version, if you want the “pimped version” with higher output (4000 lumens) and better FW you must add another 50 USD!

I would not recommend to go for a lighted tailcap, but It would be great to have a choice of LED type (Nichia for the photographers and those who want the natural colors or Cree´s for maximum output)

Anyway i´m interested! I was tempted many times to get me such a can but resisted because I din´t want the cheap latticebright LEDs….

K.

I’m interested

Yes the tail switch is ditched for lock out via the side switch, cheaper to make, less parts so no brainer.

Will update OP now

Interesting…but with all the extras you have in mind I guess it will never become reality.

the only two main differences wth the original SRK are the integrated shelf and cell status via side witch.

We are basically asing Thorfire to make a new light, based on proven design, proven pularity, known sale of first batch. They can up the price for their own branded ones and have the best SRK available, we would recommend that instead of the Supfire.
I think whoever i going to build this light is offered a great deal but I would love to see a Happy box SRK arrive

=prima, ik denk dat ik qua design wel wat kan bijdragen

chance of low voltage cut off?

One more idea from the peanut gallery. Probably not for this group buy, but maybe in the future. A “mini” SRK with 4P 14500 and 4x XPL HI V3 emitters! Integrated shelf should dissipate heat well enough. Smaller reflector size would ensure less throw, but who ever bought SRK for throw anyway? Sizing it down to 4x 14500 would make it pocketable, and with the 4x XPL HI V3 emitters, it would still be awesomely bright! A lot of the longer standing members already have SRK-size SRK’s (LOL), but the smaller size would make it unique, and possibly more would be on board for one. Then again, maybe I’m the only one. :stuck_out_tongue:

One note about the size: the ratio of diameter/length of a 14500 is almost exactly the same as 18650, so the entire body design of the SRK could just be scaled down a bit and still look and function the same. Nothing new to design, really. Upgrade the driver and LEDs of course, just like we’re talking about here.

Hahaha oh yeah a cute little baby SRK
I hope we are getting a nice thing going here and can indeed follow that up with a smaller version.

How a about a name for this current BLF Premium Soupcan?

That form factor would be very very cool, I’m all for it, but I would not like to miss out the chance to make it 4S on Eneloops (+alkalines for backup): the energy density will be a little less, but the batteries are safe and available everywhere. And you have 4.8V nominal and great current capability (at 10A you still have over 4V to play with) to make it a real hotrod.
