If anyone is considering to order XP-G2’s from Fasttech (Cree XP-G2 S2-1A) as a substitute for the former king - don’t do it. They are not in stock. Ordered couple of these seven days ago and had to cancel my order today.
Well, since i am buying half a dozen emitters bins from FT i would say they are usualy non stocked waiting a week for the shipment isnt an issue, the issue would be lower performance or something, like they did that to S2 2B
One shouldnt expect much from those S2 1A, yet 30-40% of them are good enough, and some are exellent
So you are the one that is clearing FT’s warehouse .
Indeed, the last S2 order came to be very good so i overbought a bit i admit…they send those on a random base btw, but for 1.2$ /pc one shouldnt complain
Would you consider in selling a few good ones to me? I’m pretty desperate. I’m sitting on fresh order of XP-G2 S4 2B’s from IO and don’t want to use them.
After reading all this, decided to dedome S2 2B from FT but on 20mm aluminium star. And I can confirm that the tint is perfect just like Mitko described in his thread with C8 vs Olight M2X. This one is ordered 2-3 weeks ago so I assume that if you order them with mcpcb there is a better chance you will get the old stock.
Oh why don’t you want to build nice Hulk flashlight? I am sure that Hulk fans will love it
Yes S2 1A is ok and it can have similar output as S4 2B (if you are lucky) but is not as good as S4 2B that are very constant performance vise.
The funny thing is that I built my Brinyte few weeks ago and used the S42B. I was thinking that how anyone seem to like this green led (dedomed). Then I ordered few more thinking I got a bad one. Then this topic came out. End of story. Now I’m sitting on a heavily modded Brinyte with no emitter. Blah.
Hope that at least Welight (Mark) from www.cutter.com.au will try to settle this issue and get us good old XP G2 S4 2B…
Hank from IO did not replied in this thread so far…
SOmething important
The last mixed S2 1A/0A/1D order that came from FT is also from the “new improved” XPG2 core version
0A still uses the same old core, old stock for sure
Those new ones barely reach 4 amps!
Pathetic
Iv’e just dedomed an XP-G2 R5 1A taken from an old flashlight that I converted to XP-L HI, to replace my “Angry Hulk” S4 LED in my UF 602C…
Much better. Slightly yellow, with a very vague hint of green (prob a 2C now), but much better than the horrible DD S4 2B that was in there previously… I can look at the beam and not cringe now.
I also have ordered some of those S2 0D LEDs from FT… “Waiting for stock” now apparently… prob means they will use the “new” cores too.
Maybe I should order some 0A’s instead if they are the only ones using the old led.
lol - I’m all set for this weekend
luminarium iaculator
Those new S2 1A are worst than ever m8….i cant believe it realy, the best one so far gave 4.4 amps, and at its top in C8 it its like 125k mcds, exacly like a good DDed XPL V6 ( no ar glass no tail stping bypass)
Hornestly, Cree nuked XPG2
So true…
But Dear Lord…. Why? Why?…
Waiting impatiently. Fingers crossed.
I “Angry Hulk” S4 LED
From this picture most guys may conclude quite opposite
New XP-G2 S4 2B right (orange) is “Angry Hulk” S4 LED when de domed. Orange as a freaking orange and yet green as an Angry Hulk when de domed… Fascinating transformation… Just like Hulk in strip or movies…
Real and old king XP-G2 S4 2B is the one on the left.
I hope Djozz or anyone else can take de domed aspheric beam comparison of both.
This is a damb big problem. Can’t believe whats happening here. The CREE monopoly. Sorry guys, no substitute. Frustrating.
Maybe it’s our lucky day :
