Convoy L6... XHP70 Beast!

6000+ lumens= Beast

14,555 lumens, Beast annihilator.

(Fixed that for you)
Defined!

Kawi, you’ve got some honking hoss lights there man! That TR20 is probably the sleeper in the bunch, I know how thick that tube is, haven’t seen the head on one but I understand with all those fins and a lot of mass it’s a true gem!

The BTU Shocker that’s making the big numbers is also a chunk of aluminum in it’s own right. And get’s hot anyway! Richard talked me into running 3 18650’s in it and I saw 20,000 lumens, but it vaporized the traces on the battery carrier in the few seconds it took me to get that reading. I’ve rebuilt the carrier with copper sheet material of sufficient gauge to take whatever, but I haven’t put it back on the light box with 3 cells again. That’s triple XHP-70’s on a 17mm FET driver Zener modified. I’ve got individual TIR optics NOA61’d into each reflector cup to bring the beam into a good profile with no dark spots. ($30 worth of TIR’s alone!)

Thanks Dale! Got a X60M with XHP70’s in it, kept pushing the driver with resistor changes and it finally poofed! It “WAS” amazing. It’s laying around here in a box in pieces somewhere? Maybe should dig it up and give her another go, 3FETDD-LDO E-switch drivers, :smiling_imp: The Shocker lacks battery supply, great upper end design, piss poor bottom end. The TR20-2 is something else, needs some machine work for a bigger mcpcb though and get rid of the dimple in the middle! I think this one might be thee “Beast” of the single XHP70’s, no?

You guys make me so jealous! I wish I had the tools, knowledge and experience to do these wonderful things. Still I thoroughly enjoy watching what you skilled modders do with these lights. I like my stock L2 but I know it’s capable of so much more. That’s what makes BLF so awesome. Take a cool light to start with and make it into something jaw-dropping. Cheers to Dale, KawiBoy and all you other mad scientists.

The Convoy L6 or the Thorfire S70? Which XHP70 to get?

Choices, choices, choices.

Bob

I have really liked every Convoy I’ve gotten and the L2 is one of the best yet. So I’m looking forward to the L6 with high anticipation. That said, the S70 is also an impressive light. Simon has his work cut out for him, for sure!

I have not been here for a long time, but I know the answer, get both!!

Great answer! (when you get the wife telling you that you’ve got it made!)

You know I say, you can never have too many XHP70’s and a couple XHP50’s also!!! So I’ll patiently wait for the new L6’s! :cowboy_hat_face:

Still working my on that one.

She doesn’t believe me anymore when I say “Just one more” :person_facepalming:

Bob

You are not alone my friend.
Even when I explain why “this one” is truly different than my other lights I know she is only hearing Charlie Brown’s teacher…

LOL I´m with you, boys  It´s hard explaining the fleshl… uh, flashlight needs to your “government”
Wife and kids think I´m crazy needing more than ONE flashlight! When a new one arrives I tell them “oh it´s just cheap chinese stuff, don´t worry…” :sunglasses:

J-Dub, pls tell us there is an update!

It’s a information by my request (from Simon):

Then we should see some final pictures of the lamp!? Has Simon some ideas about the final price? Will he have an early adopters, group buy, BLF special offer for us?

I would like to order one lamp!

Unfortunately I can not answer these questions.
I also just waiting for release of the product. I just asked a question about the timing of realization of the product.
Maybe J-Dub74 can able to answer these questions.

JDub has been in nearly constant contact with Simon throughout this development process and updates us regularly here in these threads of his. I don’t understand why anyone wanting to know something wouldn’t contact JDub directly instead of adding confusing by getting in touch with Simon on their own. This is what creates the chaos, too many Chiefs, not enough Indians.

I don’t answer the phone when I’m in the shop, really feel like locking the doors as well! Too many times I’ve seen guys trying to work, finishing up a project, only to have to deal with that phone and people walking in and be unable to get any work done. Simon is busy, JDub is our contact, when there is something to be known, JDub will tell us here. Seems simple enough, right?

I know, I know, people are eager and anticipating this arrival. But for any one individual that want’s to take it in his/her own hands and contact Simon directly, there are a dozen more (dozens?) doing the same! Think about it, do you want Simon working on these lights for us, or answering emails?

I just want know more information. I don’t have right write to Simon directly on ali (so in this topic is no update for week)?
Do You think if Simon will not be distracted by correspondence, the supplier will deliver drivers faster?
