Fake NITECORE Chargers [2016]

G'Day BLF'ers,

As posted by me in Marcl's misleadingly labelled thread "Banggood selling fake Nitecore charger? confirmed by Nitecore's website, if it's working" :

I have a few Nitecore D4 chargers sourced from Nitecore themselves, some of which fail their own tests for verifying if genuine or not.

When I spoke to my Nitecore contact about this, he said that they still had old stock of chargers & parts to clear/use up.

So many chargers would fail Or partially fail their new "promulgated" verification tests.

Best Regards,

George

I can’t speak for anyone else, but if I’m buying a knock-off, I want to know that it’s a knock-off. Give it a humorous name (Nortcore, Nitecar, Won Hung Lo, etc.) and shove it off the back of a truck in Shenzen market for all I care, just don’t lie to me about it being authentic.

I couldn’t agree more.

+1 Yeah, that’s pretty much how I feel, too. We buy clones of clones of clones around here already. It’s just that the clones have their own name. A “fake” is not the same as a clone. It is a deception right from the start. I suppose most of us have heard the saying “no honor among thieves” at some time. That’s what I think about. Copying someone’s good idea is expected. Stealing their name is dirty.

This makes me laugh. Nitecore obviously have a problem with people copying their products. But sometime ago they or Niteye were blatantly copying the spy007 light. They didn’t seem to have a problem then.

What goes around . . .

FWIW
I recently bought their DigiCharger D-4. The validation code checks and says it is an authentic Nitecore product and it is correct in every way except that the power cord recipticle is square and not clipped in the two top corners as indicated in one of the early posts.

Bob

Probably an old batch.

This is how the latest one looks like.

Is it true that only the negative spring side will be magnetic in ALL real Nitecore’s chargers or only the D4?

It is true for D4, D2, i4, i2. I have also tested on UM20 and UM10. My memory is faint for UM series, but I am 90% sure that they gave the same results too.

Possibly. I am glad that everything else checked out. Thanks for the heads up and all that you do for the forums.

Bob

I recently ordered the UM10 and can confirm that the negative contact is magnetic whereas the positive contact is not (the verification code is also valid).

This thread made me a little nervous, since I just plugged my D4 in.
Haven’t taken it apart, but the AC-input socket, the spacing in the logo and the magnetic test is ok. The box is gone, and I didn’t know there was a validation code on it. But I’m pretty confident that it’s a genuine Nitecore product.

Appreciate your effort. Thanks!

In the end; as long as you are happy, it doesn’t matter if it’s a fake or real.

I got mine D4 back in Oct 2015.

The part where power cord plugs in is rectangle too. No clipped corners. Validation code checks out OK on Nitecore site.

Thanks for this thread. I bought a nitecore i2 2014 version a year ago and never pondered if it was a fake charger. So just today I checked the validation code and it is authentic. I couldn’t get it to validate until I realized I was adding the spaces in the validation code. :stuck_out_tongue:

I bought mine from EdisonBright® (notice the registered trademark at the end) via amazon. Here is the link.

maybe this is how we get Chinese do somthing about IP enforcement.

when the Chinese steal from the Chinese!

I recently bought ($15.80) genuine Nitecore D2 from AliExpress (I know it’ genuine from visual clues as well as magnetic test), it came in perfect condition and works great. But it came without a box (and so without a verification code) and with non-nitecore (but good quality) cable. I may be paranoid, but I suspect someone somewhere will be getting a fake charger in real box with real verification code and real nitecore cable.

So just because your charger passed verification code, doesn’t mean you got the real thing. Code is on the box and not the charger itself.

many clues on the fake although not all are that obvious.
I own i4 for some years. probably fake, not sure. don’t remember bought which seller and at that time still doesn’t have validation code checking.

just recently purchase D4 from ebay seller and use the validation code. nothing appear from nitecore site after click submit. already sent them email for registration to service@nitecore.com, no response yet.

update: charger is fake. seller id “afforddaily”. seller proudly admit it is imitation and want me to pay extra US$13 to send me another one as solution which most likely fake too.

Fortunately, I have not encountered a fake charger with valid code to date. With the up-coming new Nitecore charger series, I foresee counterfeit makers are going to dump of their products in the market before they get obsolete. Be extra cautious if you are getting one of those older models. Don't get too excited with ridiculous cheap price.

You might want to made a Paypal claim for it. Do not let these people get away so easily.
