Home Depot Deal Alerts & Discussion Thread

If that was a 2C I’d really hate you right now! (JK)

Seriously, congratulations on an awesome score!

I am traveling East on I86 from Ohio to CT thru NY and stopped by
5 stores just off the highway over a 300 mile stretch. 3 stores had the “3” price, the other 2 were still at the “6”. It was every other store, so I am assuming that if the “3” price isn’t at your store, it will be soon.

Remember to scan, one store was marked at a 6 but ran up at a 3.

ImA,
Because when you quote you get to “see the code”

What happened was that I removed Photobucket app from my phone. (I am done with it)
And I can’t figure out how to post pictures to BLF from the imgur app. I was hoping someone would pick up on it and post the pictures for me, and Unknown00101 did, Thanks!

There were 2 models of that 56V string trimmer, a 12’ and a 15’ model. As far as I can tell the only difference is the the size of the cutoff shroud for the string. The 15 inch model (ST1501-S) went on clearance around here last December at the 03 price. I got 3, like I said before, I’ll buy anything if it’s cheap enough. Since then I have noticed the 12’ model (ST1201-S) go on clearance at the 06 price. It could be that they will go to the 03 price any day now. You would have to be extraordinarily lucky to find one for a penny. Not impossible, I caught 2 of the Ryobi 18V hard surface blowers for penny, at the same store 6 weeks apart!

This picture is from last December

I just spent the last 2 weeks in Ohio. Just before I left I had come across this deal.

There is a quick partial tear down of this light in this thread by sedstar
HUSKY brand at HomeDepot? anyone play yet?
I had bought one and it turns out to have been quite a good deal. Not only does the 3C light contain an XP-L, and come with batteries, there is an additional 3AAA light included in the deal. Even though this combo pack is on clearance, each of the individual lights are still available separately at full price.

So 19.97 for the 3C plus 11.97 for the 3AAA equals 32 bucks, but the combo was $14.06

On the way out to Ohio I used the UPC code I had cut out to check price in stores along the way. Each store was priced at $14.06 but none had stock. It seemed my local store was the only store with any stock left. 2 weeks later, on my way back to CT, I discovered I lost my UPC code. This morning after having gotten home late, I made a bee line for that store. The display was in the very back of the store, in front of the restrooms. My hope of course was that there was a further price reduction, to the “3” price.
Boy, am I a lucky man!

The top layer only had 3 lights but the bottom layer was full.

Trunk ’O Lights
.

That is awesome! I think thats my next photo of the week!

Would you like me to hold off on “Back Seat ’O MagLites”?
LOL
I know, I could PM you with that one so you can have upcoming content.

sounds good

Edit: And done, though i think i might blow SB’s brains with my mouseover attempt

I went to HD today, they had a bunch of the cheapie defiant plastic headlights and some other non-exciting stuff on a table. Then there were two silver 2D xenon Maglites for $14 stashed behind the junk. I think there were some of those husky combo deals for $14 as well.

What kind of cells are in those string trimmer packs? I can’t use a trimmer, but cells may be a whole different story and worth the whole purchase price!

Phil

I don’t know yet. I have not even opened the boxes. I do know from the specs that they contain 15 or 16 2000mAh cells. Don’t know what brand. You are right, the cells alone could be worth the purchase price. We here at BLF have done that sort of thing before. Here is a link to an old thread, where at the time was a good way to get Sanyo 1500mAh IMR cells.
From 2012

Damn dcho! Great scores. I hit a HD on the way home tonight, but no luck on any of those items. They had some of the xennon Mags for $14.06 (price checked), but that is not low enough for me. They didn’t even have any of those AAA/2AAA Maglite packs left. Last week, they were still $20 here.

On my trip back yesterday I did find a couple of stores that had plenty of stock but the lights scanned at the 6 price. Did you actually scan the light or just go by the sticker price?
When I was at HD this morning grabbing all those Husky combo packs, I also found 1 2D Xenon MagLite and 1 LED Maglite. At this store, now in CT, they were 5.23 instead of 5.03 and 7.83 instead of 7.53. Before I checked out, I went to customer service and had them scan the UPC code for the LED Mag to see if they had anymore. They did not, but they said another store 6 miles away had 18. They also said no other stores in the area had them.
So as soon as I finished up I traveled the 6 miles to see what I could find.
BTW, I am telling you this, and anyone else, because sometimes it requires an extra effort.
When I got to the second store all I could find was 2 silver Xenon Mags on a clearance shelf priced at $14.06. At that time I was unsure what they would scan for so I took one up. Yep, $5.23. So I put them in my shopping cart and went up to customer service at this store. I handed my saved UPC code to the girl and asked how many of these do you have in stock? She looked it up and said “18”
I asked where they were and she told me the Isle and bay number, and came from around the counter and led me to where I had already been. Couldn’t find them.

She had to get back to customer service so she called the hardware guy and he came over with his special HD phone and scanned the code and said there were 18, “but they do not have a home” Well, that was good news to me, for I knew it meant they were in an overhead. He continued to look around for them even though I told him they were probably on the overhead.
Just then, “Bob” walked by. I have dealt with “Bob” before, he found some tool bags for me last month when no one else could. So I latched onto “Bob”, the hardware guy, as he walked away, said BOB is like a ferret. He’ll find them for you.
And he did, they were in the overhead directly above the flashlight section. #727714, see that?, he said there they are.

He got a ladder and crawled up.

He yelled down that there were 6 to the case. I yelled back up were there 3 cases? (6 x 3 = 18)
He said NO, there were 4!

I also noticed that there were 2 sleeves of 6 each of the 2D Xenon Mags up there and asked him to retrieve those too.

Those 2D Xenon Mags come with the 2 Duracell D’s. Those are worth almost $4 right there!
4 pack at HD for $7.48

Anyday now, you should check each day.
The AAA/2AAA Maglite packs have gone to the 6 price in all the stores in OH, NY, CT that I have been to.
Don’t forget to ask customer service for stock. As I mentioned above, they could be in an overhead. I swear sometimes clearance items are put away on purpose!

EDIT:

UPC for 2D Xenon

UPC for 2D LED

I admittedly wasn’t too enthusiastic today. I went through a whole day of jury duty… :weary: :weary:

The xenon doesn’t really interest me; got plenty of them modded in different ways. I could probably use an LED version or two for parts/experimental pieces at $5-7. I didn’t bother checking upc or the upper shelves. I’ll have to do that later this week.

My store also had that Maglite combo pack 2 aa/aaa. I can’t recall if it was 14.06 or 19.06 though.

I found some door knobs in my local home depot, it ends with 03, and there are other items that ends with 03; but they all price check for the sticker price. None rang up for a penny. Is the penny price only true to some home depot locations? Thanks :frowning:

I believe the purpose of the penny price is to tell the employee to pull the item. So you have to be very lucky, or very good.

From what I understand you have to get the penny deal after the system drops it to a penny, but before an employee finds it to pull it off the shelf.

I may be wrong though.

Unknown got it right.
I might add that there is a date on the yellow tag that can give you a general idea of when it will be pulled or go to a penny

Got a couple $2 flashlights, passed up quite a few others that were $5.
also found a 2 pack of fuel stabilizer for $4.85

somebody snagged all the maglights and defiant lights.

Nah, can’t be…

Here’s another item I found at the “3” price (75% off)
These were $80 originally and caught my eye when they went to $60.06. This is a Lithium Battery Booster for your car, it is supposed to be able to jump start a car with a weak battery. Let’s just assume it does for the time being.

If it actually works $20 is a very good deal. Here is a quick review of it’s features.
There are 2 ways to charge it. Port on the left for house charging with the provided brick. The port on the left can be used to charge it from the cigarette lighter socket.

That port is also an output port to jump start the car in one of 2 ways, thru the cigarette lighter or with the provided short jumper cables.

On the other side of the unit there is flashlight and a 2.1A USB port. This unit can double as a power bank! I estimate about 10 lumens on the light.

But enough of this!
What I really want to know is WHAT’S INSIDE
6 phillips head screws hold the back cover on and they come right off

As soon as I saw this, I could see that it was built like a drill pack. 6 - 18650 cells wired in series and there seems to be a BMS circuit here. The circuit board on the left seems to have 6 identical sets of components that probably monitor the voltage of each cell during charging and discharging.
I can’t see exactly what these 6 cells are as they are wrapped together as one unit and I do not want to take this apart any further. I don’t know if I could stuff all this stuff back together and have it fit in the case. I would think that the cells would certainly be IMR’s to handle the current in boosting and survive the rough use something like this would see.
Comparing the color of the cells, they could very well be Samsung 20Q’s. I am holding one up for comparison.

At this point, the easiest way for me to gauge the capacity of these cells is to charge one individual cell with my OPUS BT-C3100 and then discharge it, measuring the discharge capacity. If it is around 2000mAh I will call these Samsung 20Q’s

It will take several hours before I know and I will post the results.

At only $20 if anyone can find these, it could be that this is a great bargain. I was impressed and surprised with the seeming quality of this unit. Glad I bought 3. (those 3 cost less than the original price for one of $80)
