Home Depot Deal Alerts & Discussion Thread

I donā€™t know yet. I have not even opened the boxes. I do know from the specs that they contain 15 or 16 2000mAh cells. Donā€™t know what brand. You are right, the cells alone could be worth the purchase price. We here at BLF have done that sort of thing before. Here is a link to an old thread, where at the time was a good way to get Sanyo 1500mAh IMR cells.
From 2012

Damn dcho! Great scores. I hit a HD on the way home tonight, but no luck on any of those items. They had some of the xennon Mags for $14.06 (price checked), but that is not low enough for me. They didnā€™t even have any of those AAA/2AAA Maglite packs left. Last week, they were still $20 here.

On my trip back yesterday I did find a couple of stores that had plenty of stock but the lights scanned at the 6 price. Did you actually scan the light or just go by the sticker price?
When I was at HD this morning grabbing all those Husky combo packs, I also found 1 2D Xenon MagLite and 1 LED Maglite. At this store, now in CT, they were 5.23 instead of 5.03 and 7.83 instead of 7.53. Before I checked out, I went to customer service and had them scan the UPC code for the LED Mag to see if they had anymore. They did not, but they said another store 6 miles away had 18. They also said no other stores in the area had them.
So as soon as I finished up I traveled the 6 miles to see what I could find.
BTW, I am telling you this, and anyone else, because sometimes it requires an extra effort.
When I got to the second store all I could find was 2 silver Xenon Mags on a clearance shelf priced at $14.06. At that time I was unsure what they would scan for so I took one up. Yep, $5.23. So I put them in my shopping cart and went up to customer service at this store. I handed my saved UPC code to the girl and asked how many of these do you have in stock? She looked it up and said ā€œ18ā€
I asked where they were and she told me the Isle and bay number, and came from around the counter and led me to where I had already been. Couldnā€™t find them.

She had to get back to customer service so she called the hardware guy and he came over with his special HD phone and scanned the code and said there were 18, ā€œbut they do not have a homeā€ Well, that was good news to me, for I knew it meant they were in an overhead. He continued to look around for them even though I told him they were probably on the overhead.
Just then, ā€œBobā€ walked by. I have dealt with ā€œBobā€ before, he found some tool bags for me last month when no one else could. So I latched onto ā€œBobā€, the hardware guy, as he walked away, said BOB is like a ferret. Heā€™ll find them for you.
And he did, they were in the overhead directly above the flashlight section. #727714, see that?, he said there they are.

He got a ladder and crawled up.

He yelled down that there were 6 to the case. I yelled back up were there 3 cases? (6 x 3 = 18)
He said NO, there were 4!

I also noticed that there were 2 sleeves of 6 each of the 2D Xenon Mags up there and asked him to retrieve those too.

Those 2D Xenon Mags come with the 2 Duracell Dā€™s. Those are worth almost $4 right there!
4 pack at HD for $7.48

Anyday now, you should check each day.
The AAA/2AAA Maglite packs have gone to the 6 price in all the stores in OH, NY, CT that I have been to.
Donā€™t forget to ask customer service for stock. As I mentioned above, they could be in an overhead. I swear sometimes clearance items are put away on purpose!

EDIT:

UPC for 2D Xenon

UPC for 2D LED

I admittedly wasnā€™t too enthusiastic today. I went through a whole day of jury dutyā€¦ :weary: :weary:

The xenon doesnā€™t really interest me; got plenty of them modded in different ways. I could probably use an LED version or two for parts/experimental pieces at $5-7. I didnā€™t bother checking upc or the upper shelves. Iā€™ll have to do that later this week.

My store also had that Maglite combo pack 2 aa/aaa. I canā€™t recall if it was 14.06 or 19.06 though.

I found some door knobs in my local home depot, it ends with 03, and there are other items that ends with 03; but they all price check for the sticker price. None rang up for a penny. Is the penny price only true to some home depot locations? Thanks :frowning:

I believe the purpose of the penny price is to tell the employee to pull the item. So you have to be very lucky, or very good.

From what I understand you have to get the penny deal after the system drops it to a penny, but before an employee finds it to pull it off the shelf.

I may be wrong though.

Unknown got it right.
I might add that there is a date on the yellow tag that can give you a general idea of when it will be pulled or go to a penny

Got a couple $2 flashlights, passed up quite a few others that were $5.
also found a 2 pack of fuel stabilizer for $4.85

somebody snagged all the maglights and defiant lights.

Nah, canā€™t beā€¦

Hereā€™s another item I found at the ā€œ3ā€ price (75% off)
These were $80 originally and caught my eye when they went to $60.06. This is a Lithium Battery Booster for your car, it is supposed to be able to jump start a car with a weak battery. Letā€™s just assume it does for the time being.

If it actually works $20 is a very good deal. Here is a quick review of itā€™s features.
There are 2 ways to charge it. Port on the left for house charging with the provided brick. The port on the left can be used to charge it from the cigarette lighter socket.

That port is also an output port to jump start the car in one of 2 ways, thru the cigarette lighter or with the provided short jumper cables.

On the other side of the unit there is flashlight and a 2.1A USB port. This unit can double as a power bank! I estimate about 10 lumens on the light.

But enough of this!
What I really want to know is WHATā€™S INSIDE
6 phillips head screws hold the back cover on and they come right off

As soon as I saw this, I could see that it was built like a drill pack. 6 - 18650 cells wired in series and there seems to be a BMS circuit here. The circuit board on the left seems to have 6 identical sets of components that probably monitor the voltage of each cell during charging and discharging.
I canā€™t see exactly what these 6 cells are as they are wrapped together as one unit and I do not want to take this apart any further. I donā€™t know if I could stuff all this stuff back together and have it fit in the case. I would think that the cells would certainly be IMRā€™s to handle the current in boosting and survive the rough use something like this would see.
Comparing the color of the cells, they could very well be Samsung 20Qā€™s. I am holding one up for comparison.

At this point, the easiest way for me to gauge the capacity of these cells is to charge one individual cell with my OPUS BT-C3100 and then discharge it, measuring the discharge capacity. If it is around 2000mAh I will call these Samsung 20Qā€™s

It will take several hours before I know and I will post the results.

At only $20 if anyone can find these, it could be that this is a great bargain. I was impressed and surprised with the seeming quality of this unit. Glad I bought 3. (those 3 cost less than the original price for one of $80)

Hi dchomak,
I read this thread with great interest and am always amazed at the great prices and great amounts you buy! what do you do with them? sorry - might have missed it if mentioned before in the thread.

Well in the case of this booster I figured one for me, one for my wife and one to play with.
The Maglites I will sell at my cost to BLFerā€™s for modding. I have already PMā€™d a famous member and given him first crack at a number of the Xenon Mags.
Each year all family members can expect at least 1 flashlight for Christmas. Also I have a number of friends that share our deals with each other, etc, etc.
With all of that, I do end up with a lot of stuff left over. When we move all I can say is we will have one heck of a tag sale (garage sale)

Itā€™s true though, somehow I am really fortunate at deal finding. I didnā€™t mention this, but when checked out with the 3 booster banks, after the girl rang them up, she said to me ā€œI can give $50 off this bill if you open a Home Depot credit cardā€
I exclaimed $50, yesterday (when I bought the 4 cases of Maglites) the girl offered me $25, which I accepted. That was
my second card
To that she said I can give you $50, you are allowed up to 3 cards. I accepted and will now have 3 Home Depot cards.
Here is a copy of my receipt, those 3 power boosters ended up costing me only a little over $10

Notice how she had to fudge the bill to give me the $50. She discounted 2 of the boosters an additional $10 each and the third one by $5 to give me the extra $25. At the bottom of the bill an additional $25 for opening the credit card.

Dropped into a HD this morning for the USB charger thing. Good news is they had around 6 of them. Bad news, still full price.

Thanks for the alert dchodude. I will be watching for the price drop to come here.

Just scored 2 of the defiant armor max 3d 600 lumen lights for $14 each. And several packages of energizer lithium AA for $3.65 each.

My defiant collection is out of control because of this thread.

Well I just found this thread today and off to HD I went seeking fame and fortune and coolness!

Bust!

No Maglites anywhere - Only the New ML300L at full price.

No String Trimmers.

No LED Lamps - Lights or bulb deals.

They had a 2.1 amp Wall Wart sans cable so I grabbed 1 of those marked down from $11.97 to $3.03.

They did have the GE 60 Watt LINK on sale for $12.06 - so its on the way out.

The Black and Decker Power Packs - Full Skid of them - On sale for $67.00 - Will keep an eye on those.

Thanks for the treasure hunt!

So I have lots of the Xenon Mags (good for modding). I didnā€™t buy them for myself, so anyone that wants some can PM me.
The cost to you will be my cost + tax + shipping. If I can accommodate all the requests, the more lights shipped per box, the lower shipping cost per light. On the other hand I would like to give anyone that want some to have a chance. Letā€™s see how it goes. After the PMā€™s come in I will sort it all out.
I am posting this offer in the HD thread first, then later to the general forum

thanks for the generous gesture! and i should keep my eyes out for homedepot credit card deals then. out here in new york home depot hardly has any 03 deals i am able to find.

Speaking of the EGO string trimmers, this is a 1 day dealā€¦ā€¦ā€¦.TODAY only. Today being April 15th maybe this tool is fitting in case you want to ā€œblow offā€ the IRS. (I wouldnā€™t do it)

2 - 200 Lumen headlamps

8 flashlights and 2 headlamps. I know the sign says $12,00, but they rang up at $4.53. Includes 28 AAA cells!

4 softgell flashlights, very elegent to the touch for the basic 3 - AAA and 9 emitter type. They also glow in the dark.
I know the price says $8.00, but they rang up for $2.53.
What really sold me on them though is the batteries are already installed, good for lazy folk like me.

How did I know they would ring up at $2.53? I came across 1 once at another store. The only reason this big batch hadnā€™t sold before is because they were mismarked.

As I said, the batteries are included.

BTW, that same sort of light is available at LOWES for $4.97 each! WITHOUT the batteries

Digital tire gauge, inclues flashlight and spotting light to find valve stem.

some other stuff

On the left and right those 4 pack of safety lights rang up for $1.53

All of the above came from my local store, where I got all the twin packs of the Husky Lights for $5.03 each. The Husky lights were way in the back of the store at the restrooms. All of these latest lights were in the very front most part of the store right next to the Commercial checkouts. When I brought the displays up to the checkouts and told them ahead of time what the prices were going to be, the 2 checkout girls went nuts. They had been looking at that display for weeks with the wrong prices. They wanted to know HOW DID I KNOW. I just smiled.
I let them take what they wanted before they checked me out. They took a lot.

Found these in my local HD.

They were not the $.01 deal yet, but WITH three D cells inside, this is still a bargain.

Looking closely it seemed to have a 20mm star in the frosted domeā€¦

YUP, sure does, and easy to modā€¦
