Grey switch cap from thorfire s70

Lets see here, “WE” design this great light and add a battery indicator to the switch and everybody reviews it and is happy. Then “WE” decide to add a gray cover so you can not see the battery indicator and say ” what could be bad about this”. I don’t know, maybe hundreds (thousands?) of unhappy customers. Sounds like a plan to me!

BUT, they don’t even mention it in their literature. Maybe you won’t notice. I’m sure, it was just a manufacturing decision (lets put the big T on there), which is cool, but the grey doesn’t cut it. I’d be willing to bet in the future, they will source it clear.

what?? maybe I won’t notice, in the future they will make it clear, how does help us stuck with ” their bad choice”!!

Can anyone find a source for 10mm x 6mm tail caps?

Otherwise, I’ll order the 10mm x 8mm size ones from Kaidomain and figure out a way to make up the 2mm extra space.

I have first version but ill get some order and use when needed.

Got a response from member Thorfire, he said to let Banggood’s Customer Service handle it.

C’est la vie.

I filed a claim with Banggood under “poor quality” goods received. We’ll see what happens now. :expressionless:

I wish I knew if the battery condition indicator was included in the product description when I placed the order.

Or when was it deleted from the Thorfire website?

There’s no mention of the battery condition indication in the manual.
Was it mentioned with the first version?

Hey,

got my S70 yesterday from Amazon… it not only had the grey hard to see switch cap, but also stopped working after around 2 minutes of operation and can´t be switched on again … Happy? Not really…

try to tighten the tail cap? with the anti roll thing their it gets in the way!

That was suxx

Thanks for that link. I ordered 5 of each clear & GITD, which arrived today, so my S70 is now rocking the latter and looks so much better for it. :sunglasses:

Got my S70 and it only lasted 5 seconds, doing a paper clip test everything worked OK , I guess its the tail clip.

Uh oh, same error as mine it seems. QA seems to suck at Thorfire…
K.

Grey cap on mine too, I can barely see the battery indicator through it :frowning:

Able to show use how it looks after installation? I also ordered a GITD set to test out but I have yet to receive it.

The S70 came in a few days ago… with a grey switch too.
I forgot about the battery indicator light so did not worry about it. Now i am - lol.
I won’t get mad about it though. Still a very good value light.
Now if i can fix that easily…

I’m selling a few of the translucent covers here “[link]”:FS _ Thorfire S70 Translucent Switch Covers @ $0.75, for those who might be interested.

Pictures and comments from that sales thread:

This replacement switch cover is approximately 10mm x 8mm, whereas the original cover is approximately 10mm x 6mm. Not an exact fit (see pictures below), but works just as well as the original as far as operating the switch is concerned.

The slightly thicker flange causes the switch retaining ring to stick up about a half-millimeter more than the original. Because the retaining ring does not snug completely down to the flashlight body, there is a slightly increased risk of water intrusion via the threads. I would recommend against intentionally dunking or using this flashlight (with the translucent switch cover) submerged underwater.

Before and after pictures of the switch (like night and day!):

Removal of the side switch retaining ring is a simple process of unscrewing it. See this link if you need further instructions: Sky Ray king ..lost button - #16 by Shaquille

You can use a pair of long-nosed pliers, snap ring pliers, or tweezers as a tool for removing the retaining ring. It is not screwed on very tightly. However, be very careful not to scratch the anodized finish of the flashlight or the retaining ring.

Thank you for information!
Did You bought this on kaidomain.com?
http://www.kaidomain.com/product/details.S024948 - these tailcaps?
And how can i buy it from you if i live in Russia?

Yes, those are KD switch covers.

Shipping from the U.S. to Russia costs far more than the product. I suggest that you order directly from the Kaidomain.
