Received my S2+ spacers (pills) today… They are well machined and the shelf is pretty thick, would direct drive a triple XPL HI with confidence.
Observations:
-I’d like an even thicker shelf, driver room is way too tall for the drivers we use. Extra copper is always welcomed, but some people might prefer the lighter weight.
-Packaging must be improved, like wrapping them in protective foam or cardboard and tape. My driver retaining lip was beat up, but nothing that I couldn’t fix myself.
Spacers don’t have driver place or retaining lip. You have recieved pills.
Packaging is already little improved, now I’m using yellow bubble envelopes for most applications, sometimes thin foamed PE is added. Not sure this is the best way, still trying to find out most safety and lowest weight packaging.
Thick lip looks bad even if it doesn’t beated up. Thinking about returning to solder design, searching for low-temperature solder to make driver installation easier.
Next pills will have much better threads and thicker shelf.
Thanks for comment.
Hi kiriba-ru
I received the spacers a few days ago. They seem well machined and without any damage. After polishing the S2+ type a little I started to convert my BLF A6 into a DD Nichia 219c triple. Your spacer fitted a little bit better then the mountain electronics S2+ spacer I had on hand, so I used the Russian one.
I’m very happy with the precision of your work, it seems to help with heat dissipation.
The only thing I had to do was widen the center hole a little,
’cause I used AWG18 cables and didn’t have thinner ones at hand.
And all of a sudden I love the A6. Particularly as a 18350 shorty!
EDIT: could someone please tell me what’s wrong with me adding pictures from Google photos?!?
I received my copper x6 spacer (the shorter one to fit a lens on top of the optics). I installed it and I had to dremel the lower part of the spacer so that it would fit into the light perfectly. I’ll post a picture later when I get a chance.
Thanks for your feedback vinte77. My X6 host has about 21.4mm pcb place diameter, spacer lower part was about 21.0mm. Seems that host dimentions may differs a little.
There is some delay in production (machine tools are to busy), hope X6 Al spacers, more Convoy spacers and pills will be ready till end of April.
I think we could use some spacer rings so we can fit 24mm Carlco quad optics into some lights. I haven’t yet found a light it fits in, always a tad smaller than the inside diameter of the bezel. We need some kind of ring that will hold it into place for lights that need a few more millimeters to retain it.
flashlight will become non-waterproof.
I have considered different variants of flashlight waterproof from bezel side and that one that I have chosen for X5 quad looks better than others. Parts needs to be precision made, but if they are good you have best waterproof and lowest losses in optics cause you don`t cut it`s edge with bezel.
By the way, I have made some measuments of Manker U11 and seems that upper part from X5 quad set (stainless steel liner/tube) can fit it. But spacer itself is a big problem, I can`t imagine how to make it better.
