What did you mod today?

Wauw!

And I am extremely happy
Remember that Ultrafire C8 I baked to a nice copper color?
The AK47 driver I wanted to use got jammed while a wire broke off
Today I got it out. Didn’t trust it so put the BLF driver with moon, battery check etc in there.
A warm white XML2

And BAM from ugliest no memory blinky moded, LB ledded flashlight to my most beautiful and useful C8.
Very very pleased with it!

Very nice FmC! So little room to work with in that one, well done and the bling factor is awesome!

Just swapped emitters in a $4 lantern from Home Depot.

The lantern takes 20mm stars and seems to have good heatsinking, so I used a 4C triple from Kaidomain in one and a Warm White Nichia 219A from Fasttech in another.

Really like the warm white in the lantern.

Now I want to use an extra 1A driver in this that I have flashed with moppydrv…

The stock driver does OK…

Bought some Courui parts off Nitro awhile back, so I took these…. To make this…… For this…… Pretty simple really, just used basic hand tool’s!! Fits tightly together, but I will epoxy it for strength and sealing when everything is done. Got a enough parts for another one when I get bored!!

Now what are you going to put in it? Buck driver? XHP?

It looks awesome!

I don’t knoooooooooow, yet? Got a couple RMM buck driver’s and plenty of FETDDLDO’s Got some parts for a few XHP35 mods, but I think the first one is going in this thing…. But I can make a couple more extensions for the Courui too? I have a few extra tubes……

It would be really awesome if you could put a XHP35HI in it. But you need a minimum of 3 cells in serie, preferable 4 cells. With a total of 6 cells thats not easy.
Or use a 4s3p 18350 setup.

What cells does that Lantern take?

Got 4 26500’s for the TR20-2 and I could make 2 more tube extensions for the Courui for a total of 12 18650’s 4S3P. Courui would have some extreme run time don’t ya think! But would be really heavy, it would look like my 6D cell Maglite too!

WOW,! That extended bare Courui looks amazing.

3 ea of D cells, and it would fit 3 ea 26650 with a little modding…

It comes with the batteries, and supposedly runs 720 hours on low (20 lumen) and 24 hours on high (150 lumen)

Group Buy?
Somebody make this happen!

I got some new Ledil triple optics that are hard to find. The photo below shows the taller Ledil on the left, and the standard 20mm Carlco on the right. Unfortunately, the Ledil is 21.8mm and I cant find anything to fit it. It's just a tad too big. I was hoping that the bezel on the convoy S2+ would fit nicely around the raised dome, but it was not to be. Too bad

I had to do something today, so I sanded off the edges with a dremel so it would fit in the S2+. Below are before and after pictures of the Ledil with the edges sanded off.

With the MTN copper spacer for S2+ and taller optic, the body just screwed into the head, exactly, not a mm to spare. If the dome had fit through the center of the bezel, like it was meant to, it wouldn't have taken up so much room in the head.

Wall shot of the Ledil optic with 3 x XP-G2 S4 2C

Same wall with Carlco optic with 3 x XP-E2 OD

I haven't done much in while with XPG, but the S4 2C seems very yellow to me. More so than the picture represents. I'm not sure if I like it. Is this normal for XP-G2 S2 2C? I've been cranky all day, so maybe I should put it away til tomorrow and look again.

I was wondering if maybe I damaged the emitters and the tint changed. Maybe I'll have to take it apart to check.

PS: this optic might be the solution to mini mags that have a larger head, and the Carlcos have too much side to side play. The dome would probably fit right inside the bezel.

Edit: Yeah, it's pretty green looking. I hate it. It makes my XML 4C look cool white.

It’s sized for a 2 x 14500 X5.

Eagletac D25C Forward clicky and lockout mod made with copper squares & JB weld.

Extended “Bare Naked” Courui Pill…. Pressed in Aluminum heat sink 3/4’’ thick…… touching on the side, shelf and inner body diameter. Drilled and tapped for the mcpcb… out of the S70…. Wanted to use the LD2 driver but had to come up with a way of sinking and mounting it Got some 1/4” dia. copper rod, drilled and reamed the P60 pill, and then soldered it fully on both sides… Indicated the body in to my spindle on the drill press, then drilled and reamed a 1/4’’ x 3/16 deep hole for the copper rod to be pressed into (my 1/4’’ reamer is wore out and way undersized) Timed the pill holes to the main heat sink holes before pressing it in and thermal epoxying it too! All wired up ready to ROCK! Only need the Hot wire to the contact board seeing how the driver is now part of the light!! Now it works off the push button and also cycles thru the levels, + locks out, and you can use the E- switch to cycle thru the levels and off!!! Really like this LD-2 driver, wish they were bigger! Put a really warm 4300-4500k XHP70 in it for a Nostalgic Watchman type of look…. it won’t last long though… got another shipment today from RMM….

wow KB1428, that is a BIG mod. Very nice!

My mod for today: a black Convoy S2+ shorty (rubber boot) reamed for 18500 batteries, with a triple: ProLight pc-amber, XP-L HI U4 7A3, Oslon SSL80 4500K 96CRI. The leds are driven by a heavily modified intl-outdoor RGBW driver (resistors tweaked, one transistor replaced by FET) into a nice low-med-high-highCRI, all modes without PWM.

Cool

Djozz, when hooking up that 4 LED driver for three LEDs, do you just not bother with one wires from the driver for the fourth LED? Does it just cycle through the three emitters, or is there an empty click, where nothing happens?
