Nitenumen NE01 first look. Clone or copycat?

I ordered the light from gearbest hoping it was an exact clone. I paid 33.26. You can save about $10 with code ne01gb.

Well, it’s not an exact copy. It does put out 1000 lumens, but the low is 19 lumens instead of 2. Gone is the two stage switch, just a generic side clicky. No voltage readout. Just five brightness levels and two blinkies.
There are small differences in the body as well.

First it has red surrounding the button instead of silver. It has four cooling fins instead of five. There is a flat spot coming back from the fins on the real mh20. There is a bigger area from the clip to the tail cap on the NE01. Just little things.

I don’t have a mh20 but here it is next to a Zebralight SC600.

Not bad accessories. The clip is very tight and hard to snap on, which is a good thing. The micro USB cable is fairly thick. The holster is nylon with velcro front and back. It is lined (plastic?) but the lining is ripped. Standard lanyard and o ring also included. The modes are spaced fairly well

I was just very sad that the low is so bright.

5 modes.

Lowest 19
Low 105
Medium 356
High 712
Turbo 993

It cycles modes from low on up through turbo by regular presses. After the fifth mode the next press turns it off, or you can hold in any mode to turn off. You can also double press in any mode to go to turbo.

A fast, max power strobe is accessed from off by holding the button. One more press goes to a max power true sos. One more press is off.

I was looking for a thermal step-down or timed step-down but brightness just slowly decreases. BUT a double click shot the lumens back up to turbo after 6 minutes of slow decrease.

Props to my LG G4 for the emitter pic. XML2?

Note: I first put in an eagletac 3100 battery and the light seemed DOA. The button top wasn’t tall enough to make contact. An Xtar 2600 got it fired up. Yes my batteries are out of date I’ve been away for a while.

While not a bad light for under $30 with the form factor for a 1000 lumen pocket light, it certainly is no Nitecore killer.

Let’s go to the other item I ordered with the light for the final verdict.

Subscribed :sunglasses: , That was some fast shipping ! Mine should be on the way……

There’s a story behind it. I ordered it from banggood forever ago but canceled because it never came in stock. I saw it was available from gearbest and ordered from them, but for a little insurance I messaged them telling them I tried ordering it to do a little review of it to see if it was a clone so they said they would send it DHL. I kind of paid for the shipping myself though, as I didn’t get the discount code applied to the light.

Thanks for the review.
Seems like only the external is a copycat
No wonder they can price it to low 20s.

Thanks for the review. Now I can sleep in peace without buying this light.

It looks OK to me! Yeah, the driver isn’t Nitecore quality… But its still a very tiny 18650 flashlight that seems to do well enough for the price.

Is it moddable?

Can you get to the emitter without destroying it?

Only bad thing I can see is type II shinny Anodized surface…
Can you take a picture of driver, and emitter, that reflector looks kinda plastic, or not?
UI is ok for me,and 993 lumens on turbo more than enough for such a small light…
Oh yeah how’s charging working, have you tried ?

I can’t get the front bezel open. The driver looks pressed in to me.

I haven’t had time to test the charging. A blue light comes on under the switch when it is plugged in.

Battery reading 3.96
Inserted blue indicator came on. Inserted charger red indicator blinked a few times then went off. Turned blue again after a minute or so, I assume to indicate charging… Hopefully it doesn’t think it is full. Will check again in a bit.

4.09v after 1.5 hours.
