Convoy L6... XHP70 Beast!

I certainly didn’t mean to imply that you were stupid. What I mean by “hounding” is repeatedly asking questions that do not yet have a satisfactory answer. Perhaps you asked a question that I missed. If so then please tell me which question you were referring to. You can always send me a PM too if you have a question for me that you don’t see answered in a thread. As far as the exact price and release date, I do not have that information though I have asked Simon. His original estimated price was around $60 but that was only an estimate. I will not post an official price until all things have been finalized as far too many factors can effect the final cost. I expect to be able to list a price soon though. It may be a bit more than the original estimate but it might not. Simon is always very fair with his pricing and BLF members will be given a 15% discount.

Anger? From where do you translate my written words on the screen into anger? Annoyance perhaps, from people not following a chain of command and being patient. You are new here, you are out of line, I told you that as straightforward as possible while trying to maintain a sense of civility. There is nothing for me to be angry about, it’s not my thread, it’s not my toes you are stepping on.

Your style, the lack of respect, is very common these days, both online and in the world at large. That is annoying to me, as I am 53 years old and was taught acting that way is rude. Today’s people want what they want NOW, no waiting! I don’t understand. This forum, this thread in particular, shows us the process we never would have seen, gives us some opportunity to even participate, that doesn’t happen overnight and there are not a lot of concrete answers in the process. Not so very long ago, we simply would not have known this light was being made until it was ready for sale. No inter-action would have been possible.

Your response about the customer always being right… you have to be buying to be a customer. Since the light is not ready for sale, there are no customers, so who’s right? See? Jumping the gun a bit. (another terminology we use in the US, this one in regard to a track runner getting a head start, jumping before the starting pistol is fired.)

Rest assured that JDub and others are pressuring Simon to complete this light. Rest assured too that Simon WILL NOT release the L6 until it meets and/or exceeds his own expectations.

We are dealing with a Chinese culture that is not our own. (for most of us) In a business sense, to say “I don’t know” is weak, not to be admitted and not to be tolerated. So in a lot of cases (I have no idea about this particular set of circumstances) a person asking questions where there are no answers will be lied to in order to appease the timing. The culture accepts the lie much easier than the admission of weakness. I’ve had this happen to me dealing with a Chinese business man. Wait three days, I’ll have it ready for you! 3 weeks later the end is still not clear. Such is life around the world, not always to our liking but offering up opportunity not found elsewhere.

I just asked a question to Simon on Ali because he talked in march about release after 20 days.
So he answer me and i quote his answer here.
I know, it’s my fault - annoying him. But it was my first request in april.
More - i wrote post with Simon’s answer because i want all readers of this topic get new information and don’t annoying you or Simon at least two weeks.

Edit:

I don’t understand you again.

I really don’t understand - where is my disrespect to someone?

Maybe you should all stop now and forget what happen! leave it in the past!

You all know the rules on BLF?

No need for bickering!

PLEASE KEEP IT CIVIL!

I posted these in post #190 but I realize now that I should have also added them to the OP so here they are again in case you missed them. This is the final light externally at least.

Down the barrel:

Enjoying the breeze:

Hanging out with some good friends:

The special offer for us is a 15% discount though I don’t have the final price yet.

Conversation, simple conversation. How can someone know anything without someone else volunteering information?

Civil? Now it’s me not understanding.

Ok, whatever. Adios.

@Mukcep
Sometimes (or often) delays just happen. If it isn’t something life-critical you should just arm yourself with patience and just wait. I don’t think that L6 is delayed because of Simon’s ill will.
But if this flashlight is an urgent necessity for you, you should just find a sufficiently similar replacement and buy it.

Hi there

I already use two flooder. Astrolux S2 and Jaxmann X1. Both have impressive long range qualities especially the X1. I am a hunter and noticed that in many situations there is the need for at least two different lights. The Astrolux S1 is great to lighten up the area directly in front of me. The Astrolux S2 seems to be a great midrange flooder. The X1 is great to check if a 100 m shot on a boar was succesfull.

My question is: How much more light can I expect from the Convoy L6?

There is no definitive answer. …yet! But I can say it’ll be A LOT MORE;)

Hey mate check out the reviews on the Thorfire S70 should be around the same output!

maybe you need some thing like the convoy C8?

But i don’t think this light will be suited to hunting its a bit big!

I’d say checking those reviews for comparison is a good indicator. The light design is similar enough that the beam profile should also be similar.
These lights are basically flooders on steroids… LOTS of steroids. That said, because they are deep reflector designs they do have some throw or maybe more accurate would be long-range flood? Your surroundings would dictate how useful it is at 100m. It will hit that distance with a ton of light but it may also be too much light if you’re trying to focus on one object and there are other objects around. If a lot of close objects were in your field of vision they’ll be lit up so brightly that it will make objects farther away harder to see. As far as hunting usefulness you could buy two, mount one on a tripod to blind your prey then use the other as a club.

Oh and while I don’t have a date commitment yet the price for the L6 will be set at $64.43 and as previously stated Simon will be giving BLF members 15% off that price. You just have to message him before you send payment and he’ll adjust the price for BLF members which brings it down to just about $55 which IMHO is a phenomenal price for a light like this. I’ll add this info to the OP as well.

Flashing animals while hunting with a rifle is prohibited in Germany… There are no objects in my line of view. It can sometimes happen that a boar for example can still run a distance away before they are dead. To have a powerful lamp for the search action seems to be a good idea for me. As the car is usually not far away I do not see a problem with the size or weight…

The X1 is already bright. I personally like to take the best option when it is affordable. So I enjoy to wait for the Convoy L6

Well being a XHP70 you should be looking at about 3 times the brightness of the X1 these XHP flashlight have so much brute power that they throw far even if not designed for it….

That is a very good price works out to be about $56 US dollars you really can not go wrong all that power for so cheap!

It’s been a few weeks so I thought I would stop in to check on progress.
What a good-looking light! It will be well worth the wait. I am PATIENTLY waiting with a GOOD attitude. No HOUNDING.

I am currently shopping for a good tripod and clubbing glove.

Dales patient explanations of English jargon brought back some pleasant memories.
The impatient music from a pack of “hot on the trail” Hounds is a pleasure to the ears. Whining is not.

Keep up the good work J-Dub. I’m in!

At $64.43 before discount this one looks mighty tempting !
So now I’m torn between the L6 and the Thorfire S70

Decisions, decisions, decisions…. :person_facepalming:

Why not both? lol i love the S70 its a great light but its not a go to flashlight mainly because of its size and weight unless you want to beat some one with it…

Was looking at the renderings again and noticed that the mcpcb looked like a normal sized one.
Didn’t really Want to search the whole thread but I know we have discussed it.
What size did he use?

Have done some modding on my S70 but it’s really hard to make the solderjoints small enough so it clears the reflector.
Hope that won’t be an issue with the L6.
