GB: Copper C8 head for 25mm Khatod Quad optic, 24mm Carclo's

Not trying to derail this project or anything but heres a thread close up of my Convoy M2 :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m interested in Khatod version. I’m a little concerned about it being real top heavy. I’d like to see lots of very deep cooling fins to help lighten it up and aid in cooling.

Will, the M2 threads don’t look like that at all in the photo from MTN’s product page. I suppose that’s the tailcap end though in MTN’s photo. Anyways I’ll look into the M2. It’s a good suggestion. If I do an M2 head I think I would like to change the design so that it looks more like the stock M2 head, kind of like how my C8 head looks like the stock C8 head to an extent. Sure, it’s not particularly original, but it’s going to make for heads that look like they are meant to be on there.

Doubtful. I am not sure there would be widespread appeal since it’s a $30 flashlight that isn’t available as a host and the stock head would be ditched to make for a light that’s otherwise pretty much the same as a $12 Convoy C8 host in this context. On second thought, yea I’ll cut you one if it’s got triangular threads. I am ordering a XinTD C8 anyway soon to see about making some copper heatsinks for it, and because I want one.

It should be fairly balanced with the thick C8 tube and tailcap and an 18650 in there. I think you’ll still be able to put it on your dogs nose for photographs or illuminate the wire during your tight rope act or whatever you need to do. The head is not large so there can only be cooling fins as allowed by the available dimensions of the head unless the head is made bigger. A bigger head with bigger fins is going to be heavier, conflicting with your weight concern, unless it is made from aluminum.

The only thing that makes a Xintd a Xintd is the head. The body tube is just a tube.

You could rebalance it by asking me very nicely to make you a wood handled 2x18650 tube for it(shameless plug) The added copper cries out for a more powerful led to keep it warm. The 502b mod from last summer ended up balanced on the index finger even with all the added copper.

Which reminds me of a completely unrelated item. I like the B158 but the brass pill is somewhat loose so I was wondering if you would put an improved version of it on the possible pills list. It’s already fairly good sized but needs better thread contact.

Absolutely, but I decided that I’ll cut him one since it wont be that much trouble. Will probably take me 30-45 extra minutes of work to pull it off…

Put me down for one copper with the Khatod optics, thanks mate.

I am in for one with a Khatod. Ready when you are.

Waiting on MTN to get the cutter boards. Should be pretty soon. I’ve determined that my price is too low at the quantity I’ll sell so I increased it… I removed the interest list in an attempt not to peeve anyone.

I’m still in.

I honestly don’t remember what the old price was, but the new one is fine. Im still in for a khatod

Count me in for one with a Khatod.

Still in for the Khatod, call it $50 even to offset some of the expensive parts list.

(Call it $44 if you like, I’ll still send $50 and that’s still cheap.)

Hey! I gotta add an extra 30%CDN onto that price. This oil crap is killing us.

I’m still in for the kathod…

Man I wish this was a full light…

Hypothetically… If it were a full light… would we want side E-switch? Remote tailcap E-switch? Dual switch? Or if clicky only: a Judco 10A switch? Or button cell powered fet tail? Standard MTN fet +1 driver or Dr. Jones H17F or LD2-?

Can you tell I’m hung up on switch options?

I had always figured I’d go one of two routes with my first light: a huge spotlight with like 12 aspherics, or a copper 10440 fet light with at least three things I could patent but probably wont bother to.

How did I miss this thread? I’m in for one however you end up doing it.

I know right. I was thinking this is the price AFTER it went up?? For a made from scratch custom head. 2 metals and neither is aluminum… Heck of a deal in my book.

I think just the fact that its convoy compatable is great. Convoy is the BLF Surefire if you ask me. Having parts and switches and legos to go with them is just another bonus.
