Convoy L6... XHP70 Beast!

Was looking at the renderings again and noticed that the mcpcb looked like a normal sized one.
Didn’t really Want to search the whole thread but I know we have discussed it.
What size did he use?

Have done some modding on my S70 but it’s really hard to make the solderjoints small enough so it clears the reflector.
Hope that won’t be an issue with the L6.

That’s exactly what I was getting at. Thanks for expanding on that with better wording.

Oh and SteveBS I was joking. Anyone who would hunt wild boar with a club is a much braver man than I.
It’s illegal to use lights while rifle hunting here too (hence the club scenario) with a few exceptions like coyotes and a few other predator-pests and such laws vary from state to state. The L6 should be one heck of a search light for after the shot though.

Unfortunately by the time that was pointed out it was too late to change for this first release but it was noted and the next revision should use a larger board. It’s probably going to be a bit tricky soldering wires on this one too. Hopefully it will be so powerful out of the gate that normal humans wouldn’t think of modding it. Present company excluded for obvious reasons.

Any normal humans reading this post??? No? Nobody? Insert audio track of crickets…

Really no big deal to gain more solder joint clearance, just tape the front of the reflector up with painters tape and the the emitter hole, just center over the emitter hole closing it off completely. Then file or sand the emitter base to gain clearance…

The fun part is, I have acces to a lathe at work. But mostly I don’t have time to play with it…

But today I made some low-clearance-solder-joint-thingy’s from some solderwick. Works great!

quote=BanglaBob]At $64.43 before discount this one looks mighty tempting !
So now I’m torn between the L6 and the Thorfire S70

Decisions, decisions, decisions…. :person_facepalming:

That is exactly where I am at as well.

The latest from Simon is, well not much. He did say that the “driver is coming soon”.
I thanked him for being so specific.

OMG what a light! :sunglasses:

Does he know he is torturing us with such little info?

That is exactly where I am at as well.

Yeah… unfortunately I’ve only got enough cash for one. Times are hard, man….

Based on the info Simon just sent me I think you might want to hold out for the L6.

Simon says he should be able to sell the light in about one week. I am waiting for him to confirm a few details before I share them but if he did what it looks like he did this might be a real show stopper.

I’m in no rush. I am looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Bob

SERIOUSLY… :expressionless:
That’s how you’re going to leave us hanging? :person_facepalming:

I know man I’m trying to stay awake so Simon can confirm a few details. I’m not trying to tease anyone I swear. Please hold on just a little bit longer. This is torture for me too!

I’m really not bothered by the wait. Its good for my flashlight budget. After the L6, I’m done spending for awhile.

I’ve said that a couple times already, lol.

LOL Me too; I think.

Bob

I think that this one will be worth the wait.

How do these numbers look?

What’s that funny little wire in the middle of the spring?

Yeah and one of those funny little wires will be in the middle of the driver side spring too. :student:

Do I have your interest yet?

Nice…

Although I would suggest using a less funny wire instead, since we’re talking about serious amps
